I had pictures to prove it, but my computers gone... anyway...

The GTD Galatea was not destroyed, it is seen escorting the colossus in the Colossus cutscene! and possibly in the LATER part of the intro.

Disclaimer: If anyone debates the beginning of the Intro, I will personally feed them to my rabid goldfish.
You have been warned.

Now, am i right? or blind?

AHHH...you mean the nameplate.  Yes...you see your not supposed to look that closely.

Infact the Galatea was destroyed but they just tossed the model in there....goodness knows why but they did.  This is where the realm of art crosses into the coherency of the story.  Its just like the jump nodes that do not exist in the FS1 CB ani's.  You guys have to take a step back and say...ok...this is a game, its art.  Artists don't always pay attention to some details while embelishing others.

do not torment the sleep deprived artist, he may be vicious when cornered,
in case of emergency, administer caffeine to the artist,
he will become docile after that,

something like that should be added to the FAQ for the forum... as well as the screenshot of the intro FMV... it should mention something like... "under any circumstances, DO NOT post any topics asking about this, lest you be ripped to shreds by a hoard of tired, overcaffinated and otherwise ill-tempered forum members"

Sorry...I was stupidly under the assumption that one day people would figure out what I had been saying all along about these things for 5 years or something...but then someone new comes on the board and I just darn well forget to tell them :D

Not under any circumstances, but only if they have something bright to say or casually refer to it later. Making a new topic "I think V was on to something! The Galatea isn't dead!" is what annoys the rest of us.

and the only reason why people find it really annoying, is because hippo has been here as long as I have.

:D Hey, I take exception to that... I only bash people when it's appropriate, as follows:

Razor - was acting like a little tit, but Shrike's told me to be nice to him

Zylon Bane - nuff said

Hippo - just pointing out to Ice that this guy posts about finding a 'new' FS bug every week or so, seeming oblivious to the 'it's a mistake/bug/artisitc liscence' replies. Seemed to me that Ice didn't realise what he was attempting... no-one here is going to persuade Hippo to stop, methinks :)

Hmmmm...Flamers?...Pfffft!

*pulls out his double bladed lightsabre*

where's the noob who's got flamers after him?

*goes hunting some flamers*

DON'T PICK ON N00BS!

*people look at him weirdly*

Remember...you were once all n00bs...AND!...there are more newbs then vets...remeber that too...they could over power us...and the same thing could happen here as it has already happened along time ago...(the "survivors" will know what I'm talking about)...

and...if anyone picks on the n00bs...I'll handle the flamers...OR! if the n00b is of the "EXTREME" kind, then I'll give them to Shrike...or Tiara...to handle them appropriatly...

I really dislike the concept of n00b.  It implies that those new are required to enter a period where they know little to nothing and have to be accepted first.

Any community I enter, I enter with the intentions of being knowledgable and skilled in what I discuss.  If its a competitive game, then I will acknowledge my attempts to bring my skills to a higher level, but I will not accept from myself the excuse that I am new and therefore either need to be guided around by more experienced members nor the concept that I should let others lead me around.

This entire concept of n00b is wrong.  If your new, your new, introduce yourself and listen to those around you but never just take them for granted because they have more experience than you and never discount them because they have more experience than you.

Accept them as they are, take them as they come, and listen to all the voices.

Well said that man (well at least I think you're a man, you could be a woman..or a head of lettuce for all I know) Heres a little story to illustrate that. I write for a site with a very active forum where 'noobs' are routinely flamed. One of them though never incited a single flame. Its a very technical forum and the guy came in and immediately started dispensing some very sound advice on technical issues. The guy knew his **** inside out and back to front. Within a month we'd asked him on staff. He just published his first review and its superb. He's going to be a real asset to the site and to think if someone had decided to single him out for a bit of hazing and he'd gotten pissed off we could have lost him. Makes you think.

I agree. Being a new member of the community myself, I don't think that being newer should afford any less respect. Especially since most of the people around here are not really kids; probably between 16-40, I would imagine. Down with n00bs! Err, I mean, down with n00bism!

Probably half the ones who call people n00bs are trying to fit in the first place.

And as for the Galatea, how about if the GTVA wanted to hide the movements of ships escorting the Collosus? They'd just replace the IFF and the nameplate. If I was a traffic controller in 2367 I'd be confused too, and think something was just wrong with my sensors.
