Guys, wasn't there a post a lfew months back about a movie that takes place in the World War One trenches about some british soldiers being stalked by some unseen monster after they manage to take a German camp?

I've been trying to find this post through the search engine but I can't find it. I also forgot the title of this movie and I don't remember if it even came out yet, but I rememer that the HLP ost said it was coming out soon. I think the post also had a link to a trailer about this movie and the trailer looked really cool.

Does anyone remember the name of this movie and where the old HLP post can be found?

Cripes, even the official movie site is creepy...

Too bad the article/review that an0n posted says that the "evil force" that kills off those soldiers is never explained. That was the reason I wanted to watch that movie.

The nature of whatever it is in the trench is never fully explained: hints, ideas, suggestions, theories will be rife, but it remains nameless. Yeah, the scariest things are that which cannot be seen, but come on, when the movie is over, we gotta have some kind of explanation of what happened! How can you end a one-shot movie (meaning this movie is not likely to have a sequel) without a resolution?

If this movie is just about nine Brit soldiers going mad and dying in a German trench and only one guy survives without an explanation of what killed the other eight, then what's the point of watching this movie?

Do many horror movies consistently seem to have no plots or is it just me?

Like the article stated, I find this both a bullet dodge AND annoying.

As to whether it's God or the Devil in that trench, my money is on Big D. War is hell and Hell is the absence of God (or so I'm told). If the trench is a hellhole, then God wouldn't be anywhere near that place.

I never cared much for horror flicks, but I'm really curious about this movie.

Ah, Deathwatch. Glad I saw it, but it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. Think Event Horizon in a trench... it wasn't terrible, but I'll not be rushing out to buy it neither. That said it had some good characters, and it's worth seeing for Andy Serkis - that guy plays such a great psycho, when he's not lusting after rings

It was explained. Well, half of it. The trench was possesed or haunted (or whatever) by some evil presence - either naturally or as a result of all the killing - which was embodied by the german soldier that gets captured and later lets Shakespear go. Whether the german guy was a soldier who had been possesed or something else, we don't know. Also, we don't know if perhaps the trench had been built on a old indian burial ground (unlikely). So we know what killed everyone, what we weren't told is why the evil was there in the first place. You can decide that for yourself

And yes, Andy Serkis also played Gollum. Interestingly, I used to have a screenie of Smeagol and Deagol finding the Ring, presumably from a deleted scene... they decked Serkis out in Hobbit gear to be Smeagol, and it made me realise that the CGI Gollum actually looks a hella lot like the man himself

WW1? yeah, as far as I know there's no indian burial ground in europe

hehe, yeah, Jackson explained it, the designers at WETA designed a very cool gollum, they had made the models and all, then when he hired Serkis, Jackson was so impressed by the dude that he asked the people from WETA to redo Gollum all over again so he looks like Serkis ( of course they weren't THAT pleased to redo everything when it was already completed ).

Well, he is the man. You know, he played Bill Sykes 'pon a time, and gave a superb performance. I just hope he's not quite so mental in real life... Quinn and Sykes were both very scary dudes
