How many multi-part turrets can FS2_Open support on a single capship?
I have one with 18, so I wanna know if I have to remove a few...
+ about 75 standard turrets

Another question:
Can anyone give me an example of how the particle spew and corkscrew effect work? What lines do I need and where do I put them?

well, i'm now pretty sure that the 10 rotating sub object limit does not apply to turrets at all. this is because, the orion for example has 13 rotating sub-objects if turrets are included;-the turret arms will be counted as rotating objects as well as the base.

because of this i'm guessing the limit is on rotating sub-objects like radar, spinning solar pannels, gas miner parts etc.
am i right?

The ship has 18 twin Ion Cannon turrets and one missile launcher turret (all multi-part).
When all of them are set to rotate the game chrashes when the ship engages the enemy (Sath).
When I set 4-5 of them not to roatate (the other dtill do) then all works fine, and the ship blasts the Sath.
I was using FS2_Open, so I suspect the problem is in the rotating subobjects limit.

If anyone in the source code team knows how to fix this..please do so..... I kinda need it for the campaign.

I think each barreled turret count as two normal turrets for submodels. I'm pretty sure woomeister mentioned something like that.

Yes, but FS2_Open can handle more than 110....
And I didn't even put all of the 70 normal turrets on this test model....
This must have something to do with the code.....

The fact is with ALL the turrets it still works, as long as not all 19 are set to rotate.........:confused:

Before I start, someone actually working on the code correct me if I'm wrong here.

First, isn't it rotating SUBSYSTEM limit, not submodel?  If memory serves this was bumped from 8 to 16 but is still present.  And if it is subsystem, not submodel, then multi-part turrets count but only as one per turret, not two.  This could concievably be raised, but whenever you do something like this it potentially sets back performance.  That's a decision for the coders though.

I really need that raised.... The Ion Cannons are Iowa's primary weapons......

I tought that the best people are gatherd in HLP, but if no one even (cares about)/(knows how to solve) this problem.....  :confused:.... I must have been wrong....:blah:
