well that'd go the phoenix saga. IIRC she went out of control and wanted to destroy everything after the crystal was destroyed or something like that.

I don't remember exactly, it seems that after the defeat of D'ken and the restoration of the crystal to it's temple on Aerie(The Shi'ar Homeworld).  The X-men went back to earth, Pheonix included.  It was during this time that Scott and "Jean" resumed their romance and the Pheonix entity became all too human in the process.  Eventually one thing lead to another and Pheonix left Earth.  She then proceeded to destroy several whole solar systems which honked off the Shi'ar because they are the Preeminant race in several galaxies, and they see it as their duty to protect said galaxies from agressors.

I couldn't follow the storyline after it started talking about aliens. I just didn't get it.

isn't Phoenix (Jean) the most powerful mutant though?  isn't she like capable of destroying planets in a heartbeat?  i thought when she became Phoenix she became the most powerful

Toad?  yeah, he was awesome.  in fact, in the beginning of X2, when i saw that guy in the trenchcoat in the white house, i thought it was him    Sabretooth wasn't in this movie either.

My favorite "X-men" is definately Colossus.  Unfortunately they didn't show much of him in X2, but in X3 apparently he's going to have a pretty major role.  (for those of you who saw X2, Colossus is the guy who appears for a few seconds when the SWAT team invades the mantion.  he rescues a kid in one of the rooms, and he's got this metallic skin on which deflects the bullets in the movie)
