Subsystems on Capships
On certain capships you have the option to have the Subsystems scannable rather than the entire ship (e.g look at the mission where you're in a ptah fighter scanning the Sathanas).

I believe this only applies to juggernauts, destroyers and installations. Is this a table thing or is it hardcoded.

If it is Hardcoded can we extend this so that any ship we want (or at least any cap ship) can have cargo in subsystems or be scanned as a whole.
Can we also make so that we can add a subsystem to a ship and have that be scanable?

Alas, it is currently hardcoded. Drydocks, Destroyers, supercaps, installations, knossos and other really big stuff all have scannable subsystems. It's tied in somehow to the use of the Huge warpin sound.

But, ah, you can scan subsystems on fighters and cargo pods, too. You have to in the main campaign, as well as a few others like Derelict.

If my memory serves me right, it has something to do with a "cargo" information tag for the system or the ship (depending on whether it's a capship, maybe, which is much more a collection of independent systems than a fighter), which you can set to be scannable or not.

I wasn't aware of any cargo pod that even had subsystems. You sure in the cases you remember that you weren't simply scanning the entire pod or fighter rather than one of it's subsytems?

I know how to set it so that the subsystem is scanable on the classes of ship that GE mentions. You simply use the cargo field from the misc. properties button on the ships editor. My problem is that you can only add details to certain subsystems on certain classes of ship.

Now since the hard coding is already there how hard would it be to work round it so that by checking a box in FRED cruisers used the hard coding too and could be seperately scan. Also how hard would it be to make it so that other subsystems apart from the fighterbay, sensors, weapons, comms and navigation could be scanned?

Yeah, with fighters and pods you scan the whole thing.
