Heh, right now Alex has the damage a bit high for it..
it can kill an Acolyte in one shot   and the acolyte has 400 HP...

It's isn't very easy to make a beam that can damage big capships but still not being overkill against fighters.

I don't know what Alex is thinking about this...

A lone Dervish isnt much of a threat to a capship, 5 or 6 maybe...
Its a big threat to fighters though, think of it as Cataclysms version of the Aeolus minus the Flak and Green beams....

Sure, but I tried attacking it with 12 acolytes and they didn't even do any damage on it.

It's problems are it's limited firing arcs, the FS2 AI doesn't know how to move around when battling fighters so if you go sitting on a dead angle you can take out a Dervish all by yourself.

And of course we can't make acolytes go down as easily as they went in cataclysm, it wouldn't be very fun to die 2 seconds after flying too close to a capship.

But anyway, I'm sure there will be a whole lot of tweaking to be done before making missions

Try giving some capship(cruiser or corvette) bomber tag and see how it flies.
