I started drinking beer when i was 14.....And you need to be 16 to be able to buy beer and all the other not so strong stuff. And 18 for the real liquor.

yeah, same here. altho they rarely check your age, I bought alcohol stuff way before I was 18 ( benefits of looking older than you really is ).

I also could get it before i was 16/18 at most stores, but some did check your age. If they did check you just go to the supermarket 2 blocks further and there you bought tons of stuff you never had before.

Britain's alcohol laws are totally messed.

You drink over the age of 4 (i think)
You cannot buy if you are under 18
You cannot buy for those under 18
You can drink with a meal in a pub if you are over 14
You can drink at the bar if you are over 18.

So who is going to buy your drink with the meal, if it is illegal to buy for those under 18?!?

Ahh yes, "lend".

Of course there are always disreputable off-licences a-plenty.
