I need to convert some new Vasudan models I have, to COB and then back to POF, so that they will become smooth shaded and look much better.

I've tried using PCS to do this, and the COB comes out fine. But when I try to compile a POF with the resulting COB, it doesn't work correctly.

So, any help you guys can offer?

First it's spelled "giraffe". Unless there's some weird Scottish animal (with plaid skin, of course)

Secondly, i mean, after having converted it to COB, I try to convert it to POF using PCS. It doesn't work correctly. I tried it again using COB2POF (against better judgement), and it crashed.

I have a feeling its the initial POF->COB conversion, the COB isn't coming out quite right or something.

Oh yeah. And by "not working correctly", I mean, it asks which COB i want to use, acts as if it's compiling it, waits 10 seconds or so, and then nothing happens. I check to see if a new POF was made, but nope. No POF in sight.

You will probably have to re-do the hierarchy of the model. I've noticed when I've done POF->COB conversions in the past, I've needed to remove everything from the 'Freespace model' level; and also the subobjects end up with their centres out of place, so they've needed to be unglued from their lights, and reglued in the correct positions (thats basically what happened to me when I did the Hades, all the gun barrels had their centres in the wrong position and ended up rotating in a weird manner. Didn't realise until after I'd done all 60 turrets, so I just deleted the barrels.)

Alternatively, if these new Vasudan models happen to be the ones that I built for you, then I could just send you the final .scn files I have, with all the hierarchy set up correctly, so all that you need to do is convert them back to pof.
