Which one? iPod or Jukebox NOMAD Zen?
Ok, since my MD player has gone to heaven above, and I've finally gotten some cash, I've been considering in bying one of those über mp3 players. I've seen the iPod, and its sweet, with a lot of features, but comes with a price tag. Also I've heard it has a low battery time and has some compatability problems with the PC. But its still outspoken as the best of the market.

Then theres the Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen. Which is bigger (not by much), doesen't seem to have as many features (I.E Playing games and ****, but I don't care for that anyway), but has almost twice as long battery time and works perfectly with the pc, without any flaws and is cheaper.

Both are 20gig, and work as hard-drives for data as well.

So...

Which one?
I have returned... Again...

So... the more expensive Apple one has worse perfomance in many respects and features which you aren't really that interested in... I'm going to take a wild stab and say the cheaper one.

Get neither. You'll not be able to make full use of the iPod without a Mac unless you buy thirdparty software.  Both of them, so far as I know, have DRM stuff, which make them truly evil.

Go for an Archos. Not as stylish, but none of the extranous hassles.

Apple make iPod kits for MacOs and Windows with the software required for both included. I'd still go for the MAc kit and take my chances with the third party software though as I believe the Windows version is formatted with FAT32, the worst filesystem ever devised.

Thanks guys... I'm going for the Zen, it looks IMHO cooler than the iPod, and since its native to PC and has EAX stuff on it, I'm quite happy with it. :D

You, sir, don't know filesystems. There are worse horrors than Fat32.

Like s5, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. BSD had FFS, but replaced it with UFS (my personal favorite). Some people would argue that DFS was notably bad, but I'm not one of them. I think it was merely bad-ish. I've used far worse.  LIF before it was booter only comes to mind, as well as Minix (some programs have compiler directives in their source named MINIX_BRAINDEAD for a reason).

On the PC front you have stuff like HPFS, HPFS2, NTFS and NTFS2 (which is called 5, but its really version 2), but those are actually good.  VFAT is an extension of FAT16, but not quite FAT32 either. All of the FAT variants suck ass.

On the Mac front, you've got HFS, which, while not actually good, isn't actually BAD either. Filesystem metadata is kinda kickass, shame about the rest though.  You've also got MFS, and MFS+. The + was actually better than the nonplus,  but it wasn't terribly much better.

More agnostic, you've got stuff like the Rockridge FS which sucks painfully if you have to write a CD, but not as painfully as ISOFS. Then you've got Joliet which is like Fat32 but with some of the good bits broken.

Finally, there's CLASSIC, which was Novell's native filesystem before they switched to their current equally disgusting filesystem.
