There's nothing really wrong with the texes, but you could stand to bump them and include an atmosphere.

Comments on render (not looked at the movie)

1- space out the planets - having them that close looks a bit ludicrous.  In fact, I'd drop all but the Earth and the moon (or something similar) and concetrate on getting them looking right.
2 - There's no sense of perspective - they could be aligned on a plane for all you can tell from the image
3 - Need an atmosphere effect on the earth.. it looks a mite odd
4 -  Add a light source (i.e. sun) likewise, because at the moment it looks like unviersal lighting, and that basically makes it look like a cut and paste job.  Ditto for a visible sun and possibly lens flare. If you have lighting, tone it done and make sure the majority is from a central point.  Also, sillouhetting a planet behind the sun is a very easy and IMO neat way to do renders.

At the moment, it just looks like a cut and paste job, which is not a good effect.

When working on a single planet or a small system - like Earth and the Moon, you should use directional lighting, that would be all the same, place the sun somewhere in that direction BTW if you want it to be present.

Just watched the movie.
A bigger portion of the Earth should be lighted. Moreover the Earth also reflects a distint ammount of light.
Choose another picture, with better colors, they're too artificial.
Creating the clouds would be a hell of a job, but only if you want a planet rolling like that -'cause than you'd have a hell of a time simulating their movement.
A glow could be used to create the effect...
The night side has lights as well - could be too ahrd to implement though.
BTW it's good, but I think it needs more work.
