First off, I'd like to apologize to all of you who like to read the interviews for the horrendous laxity of late. Nobody's posted an interview in awhile and the forum's boring. I do have a half finished Interview with KARMA, but that's going to take m at least 2 more sessions to complete, and he and I are rarely on at the same time.

SO I have a proposal. The first person to ICQ me  (92576264) with a reasonable FS or HLP related interview topic within the next two hours will get an interview right then and there, on the spot. Anybody who ICQs me within the next 24 hours will get an Interview ASAP (And If I get glutted, I'll bully Stunaep of Teno into doing some).

Project leaders are preferred so we have a single topic to talk about, but not required (though I would like a single, primary topic for discussion if at all possible). Note that HLP hosting is not a requirement.

(Time starts at 11:15 PM local time (GMT +8) on the 8th of June 2003)

*Hopes he gets at least one request so he doesn't look like a fool*

Plenty of reasons - they may have already been interviewed, may not be ready/have time right now, may not even be interested.

Anyway, this way has already generated some interest - an interview with Karajorma is happening as I post - the 24 hour offer is still open however, and everyone who responds in that time still has a guaranteed interview - it just wont be tonight.

You wouldn't want to interview me - all I'd want to talk about is Space: Above And Beyond :)

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

This could be part of the data we send to the magazines.
"I was going to become a speed dealer. If one stupid fairytale turns out to be total nonsense, what does the young man do? If you answered, “Wake up and face reality,” you don’t remember what it was like being a young man. You just go to the next entry in the catalogue of lies you can use to destroy your life." - John Dolan

Yea, I don't see what place our HLP interviews would have in a magazine. If they got around to caring, I think they'd want to do it themselves, understandably.

And more to the topic, Borealis is supposed to interview me IIRC, I just put it on hold kinda untill I got something worthy of an interview going.

Well, Karajormas interview is up, and he offer still stands for the next 12 and a half hours. I've already booked Hippo in for next weekend, but there're plenty of other spots I can do an interview.

BTW, I do agree that we should kep the HLP interviews out of maghazines - for one thing, the mags ould have professional interviewers if they really wanted an interview, second of all none of these actually deal with the cmmunity as such, but with individual campaigns, and thirdly the'd take up a lot of magazine space, and unless someone was going to do the extremely unlikely and devote sevral pages to HLP as opposed to a few paragraphs, they simply would't be interesting enough to people outside the community to warrant inclusion.

Agreed, BW. What people seem to be missing is that we do not dictate what magazines will put in any articles they print/post - they do. The most we should do is simply inform them of our continued existance and activity, which, along with the HOTU download and SCP, provides gamers everywhere with a freely downloadable, fully functional, and fully recodable space sim engine, as well as have a preview package ready to tell them about if they ask.

It could very well be that some of them will do nothing more than a "5 years ago in {Insert-Nag-Name-Here}...", reminding people of the rave reviews FS2 got, and then mentioning in a by-the-way manner the existance and URL of HLP. Most of them probably won't even do anything at all. But that's for them to decide.

Back to the interviews. :D
