hey pyro-manic... do you drive?  what do you drive.

see, my "interest" of cars has changed a lot.  when i was 12 i wanted an oldschool car, very oldschool, like an old chevy impala, or a cadillac or something, then when i started driving at age 15, i wanted a regular car, like a ford taurus or a mercury sable or something, somewhat small, then at 16 i wanted fast cars, very fast, whether naturally, or modded to be fast.  i drove a corvette z06 for a few hours, and it was fun, but it gets old.  i also drove a chevrolet 1500 with everything, NOS, turbo, a big breather in the front, you name it.  (it was my friends).  now that thing you could be going 60 and you'd floor it and the thing would jump like you were just starting.  now i don't like the fast cars much anymore, i guess i'm going through another "phase" where i like good looking cars, like Cadillacs, Lincolns, etc.  hydraulics i think are awesome.  i'll probably change in the next few years again though :D

You get some 19-year-old school dropout who'll buy a knackered old car (such as an F-registration Vauxhall Nova, or Ford Fiesta) for about 500 quid, and then spend three grand sticking a stupid body kit (huge spoilers, skirts and fake intakes), a massive sound system, and tinted windows on it, in a vain attempt to make it look really fast and powerful. They'll also stick a big chrome exhaust pipe that you could fit your head in on the back, take out the muffler, and drive around in first gear to make it sound like it's got a huge engine. Of course, it doesn't work, and it sounds like an angry wasp stuck in an oil drum. You'd think they'd just spend the £3000 on a half-decent car, really.

Not to mention a 'bosch' (or similar hifi manufacturer) sticker covering the entire back window, and scooter played at 90 decibels.  The best one I've seen was painted bright purple.....

Ah, you've seen 'em too! :D  Sad, isn't it? Most of the ones I've seen have "Kenwood" or "Max Power" stickers, but yeah...

I've seen a fluorescent green one, with a foot-high,  fake air intake stuck on the bonnet!

Stealth: I don't drive yet - I started having lessons as soon as I turned 17 (the legal age here) last year, but I kinda stopped after a few months. I'll probably do an intensive course over the summer, though, and get it done by the autumn.

I've never really liked those big, wide-ass cars people have in America - they guzzle fuel, they're really bad for the environment, and they just look ugly. Same goes for 4x4s and pickup trucks. The only big cars I like are things like Jags and BMWs, that have a bit of class to them. Having said that, I did quite like the car in the chase scene from Matrix Reloaded (the silver one that gets shot to pieces)  - I think it was a Cadillac, but I haven't got a clue about American car makers.

yes, the silver car in Reloaded is a Cadillac.  That "you might be a rice boy if..." thing was pretty funny:D

I'll tell you what made me laugh the other day and continually makes me chuckle whenever I think about it. I saw one of the *old* model Skoda's (before VW bought them out and started making them respectable cars) with a FAST CAR UK sticker on the bumper.

I literally shat myself with laughter.

the car from Matrix reloaded that Trinity, Morpheus, and the keymaker were riding in was a Cadillac CTS.  the one the twins were riding in was a Cadillac Escalade EXT... (the truck version of Escalade).  if you're American, you'd know that, i saw them, and the names just came to my mind :D  then again, it's probably cause i like Caddys ;)

oh, and the cops were driving Crown Victorias.  the police version of them.  P71 Interceptors, or whatever they're called.

i dunno, i guess when you grow up with big cars you like them.  see, if i look at the little cars that people drive in Europe, on those smalll roads, the cars that are like 6 feet long... i don't like those... i don't know why, i'd just never buy one.  Also, how can you say that BMWs have class, but Cadillacs don't.  ok granted, the X5 my neighbor has IS very cool, but look at the newest Cadillac and the newest BMW... i don't see a difference.  probably because the cars people have in America and the cars the rest of the world has are different, and i like cars that Americans drive :D

Bah, the new beamers are ugly as hell - they don't look like beamers any more! I'm on about the previous lot - the '99 models or thereabouts. They gotta have two separate round headlights on each side, not these weird pointy plastic-covered ones they have now. And a proper grille, too! I haven't seen many Cadillacs (they're not very common in deepest Blighty), so I can't really comment on their styling very well.

you know, you seem to think that a lot of cars that the majority think are cool and look good, are ugly.  so what cars DO you like?  those small Toyotas they drive in Europe?

2003 X5:

now here's a 1999 BMW:

and a 2003 BMW:

OK, as i'm sure you can see, the 1999 BMW and 2003 BMW both have the "two round headlights" on each side.  nothing's changed. the X5 is a new model, there's no alternative, and nothing to compare it to, so don't compare the X5 to a 1999 BMW, cause it's two totally different types of cars.  if you want to compare a 1999 BMW to something, compare it to a 2003 BMW, and as you can see, the "front headlights" you talked about are almost exactly the same.

EDIT:  Lights look the same, and i just realized grille is the same too

Y'know I still think of Europe as if I was still in CSYS History (Britain, France, Germany, Russia, Italy). :nervous:

Fica all the way. For those of you not from the Balkans, the Fica is perhaps the second smallest car in the world. I *think* that its the Fiat 300. The only car thats smaller is another Fiat, nicknamed Peglica...Razor knows what I'm talking about:D :D

On the topic of nice cars, I think that in the luzury class, Audi is the king. As for sports cars, none of them really appeal to me. Every time my bro starts drooling over either a classy old car or a cool new car, I just think its look the same as every other old sports car or new sports car. The TT is very cool, though I dont really know how good it is performance wise.
