If you.... have (;))... the song "Dread Rock" by Paul Oakenfold, from the Matrix reloaded soundtrack, then play it. At ~13.5 seconds, the most incredibly deep bass riff kicks in. It is so deep, as a matter of fact, that it's beyond the point of overloading my (midrange) subwoofer and well into the realm of not even registering as bass. But on a good or even semi-good pair of earbuds, you should be able to hear what I'm referring to if you press in on them to ensure that you make a sealed bass reverb chamber out of your ear canal. Pump up the bass volume all you want - this is not about volume, it's about pure 20Hz-ness. ;7

Anyway, my brother's Logitech Z-560's' 188-watt RMS, 11x11x13-inch sub can easily reproduce the bass - can your sub? :D If so - and even if not - what system do you have?

(Note: Please listen to this song with good earbuds first, so you know exactly what I'm referring to - my woofer can reproduce some bass, but not THE bass. ;))

I like fish :D

But really, my headset wouldn't even be able to handle even the smallest amount of bass; I really need an upgrade...

i don't have woofers connected to my computer ATM... as for earphones.. would sony MDR-IF230's do?;)

I have an Altec Lansing 4.1 system (AVS500) and I'll try that bass thing when I find the song....

oooooh you don't want me to push my subs man... here's what my car's running at the moment:

Pioneer Premier 200W built-in crossover, 50W/speaker.  i still have stock mids and highs though :doubt: but that'll get fixed soon.  the RCAs are feeding my 1000 Watt Memphis D class Amplifier (chrome :D :D :D ) which is pushing my twin 15" JL Audio subwoofers (the best 15" sub JL Audio makes).  The subs are W3 (not sure the sub-model, but oh well), and they're acoustically positioned in my trunk for maximum bass.

i've actually got a few tracks and stuff that are designed to push the limit of your subs, but they're not very good to play.  i'll try this song though, and i'll post some of the tracks i've got for testing subs.  don't panick Shrike, they're freeware.

In reading a review, I've discovered a few interesting things that I didn't know:

The organ (the instrument) can go as low as 16.4Hz; the lowest notes on a piano, harp, and contrabassoon are closer to 32Hz. Lowest note on an electric bass is around 41Hz, lowest human voice is around 87Hz, although in opera they rarely venture lower than 128Hz. And many movies make use of tones lower than 20Hz for explosions. :D

Meh... can;t say i really like it.  The Rob Dougan stuff is better.... not sure what's on the Matrix OST, but Chateau is good.

dunno, i've got a pair of old jvc speakers with 12" woofers in them, and when the bass is cranked up, you'll get a nice foot massage..

used to have my nintendo 64 hooked up to it...

it was sweet, you could feel the chronoscepter go right through you:p

yeah, i tried it first in my friend's truck, he's only got JL 10W3V2s (10" subs), and he almost blew them, they were vibrating and putting out the wrong frequencies and all. haha.  this song did nothing to my 15s.  my 15s took this very easily, they can handle a lot deeper bass than this song, and this song didn't even make the trunk pop open, but it still sounded pretty nice.  it's an awesome song, thanks for drawing my attention to it :)

Just to make sure... the bass is not a beat, it's a constant humming purr with varying tones from 13 to 25 seconds, and then the beat kicks in, and kinda ruins the effect. Sort of.... not really. ;)

I heard a kinda rumbling sound at 13ish I think that might be what you were talking about. It was pretty hard to hear as it was so low. :nod:

It was the "a lot deeper bass" that you mentioned your speakers being able to handle - I can't imagine a lot deeper bass than this, so I suspected you might have been listening to the beat. ;)

well, not a LOT deeper bass, but i've definately heard deeper bass than this, particularly on subwoofer test tracks that i've played.  if you listen to rap a lot, you'll hear bass this deep, or even deeper, quite often ;) :nod:

But i don't go for the very very deep bass, even though the 15s are more than capable of it.  my friend has 4 13.5" W7s (the best subwoofer on the market at the moment, also made by JL Audio) and he actually BROKE the seams of his trunk becuase the bass was so loud and deep.  mine the most i can do is pop the trunk occasionally, ;)
