Excellent!! :D

But yeah, the OS X bouncing application list on the bottom is a pain in the ass... (yeah, my mother owns one, and I have to endure it...)

I hate WMV... Media Player 6.4 can't seem to download an appropriate decompressor. Any regular AVI files of this?

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Hey, great link - don't know why I never saw that one. Unfortunately, it works with the codecs installed for Media Player 6.4, and the newer codecs refuse to install on my WMP 7.0+ -less system. But I like that player. :D

Why thank you, kind sir! That played perfectly - 50Mb, but 'tis a trifle with my 200Kbps connection. ;)

And how come none of you have noticed that this is, as far as I can tell, a brilliant jab at PCs, and NOT Macs?

Hmm... Maybe you're talking about some XP thing. That's not true on mine. Nor, for that matter, is it that you have to use approximately three different keyboards, two case buttons, excellent timing, and a trained octopus to shut anything down. I had to work on Macs for an entire year doing a magazine; my experiences were summed up exactly in what he said here, and nothing more.

Ok then, we both have experiences from the opposite perspective. The only things he said that weren't precisely applicable to PCs were the dock bar not going to the top, and the deleted file thingy. All the rest completely parallels my PC experience, just with Mac terminology.

Which, even if this is a jab at Macs, makes it doubly-funny towards PCs. :D

I can guarantee you that getting out of a lockup in a PC is 500 times easier and doesn't involve a power cord.;)

Some of the stuff, like unstable software, applies to any operating system- largely because it doesn't always have to do with the operating system- RDS in particular loves playing this game of "guess when I'm gonna blow up" on my machine. But other than that... well, what? I guess the whole "tricking the computer into doing what I want" would work if you weren't at all familiar with PC operation, but beyond that I dunno...

Well, it just sounds like exactly what I went through immediately before upgrading to Windows 2000 - 98 was being, well... 98. :p

Never had 98 crash once.

It's godawful slow, to the point where it might as well be crashed at times, but that's because I made the mistake of installing Office XP on it. And XP is Satan offal done in binary.

98SE or 98? And did you actually try to use it for more than a day at a time w/o rebooting?
