Well I'll be damned
So there I was, innocently trawling Kazaa in case a ROTK trailer had been released or leaked, and I downloaded something interesting. A trailer for a Peter Jackson film, starring Ian Holm, Ian McKellan and Andy Serkis. It's called The Hobbit.

= teh intrestingness.

Only makes sense to do the Hobbit if the LOTR trilogy has been so succesful.

I have to watch it again, but it seems possible that it was cut together from LOTR footage, and a dragon from another movie. If its authentic, WAHOO.

yeah, saw it again. Somehow I dont think its real. Theres a few scenes in there that I seem to remember from LOTR, theres no Dwareves anywhere in sight, and the dragon + peopple putting out fires seems to be from another movie

I hope I'm wrong on this one

Offline diamondgeezer

Oh, you're absolutely right - the dragon is likely from Reign of Fire.

Bum clouds.

Alls I can say is DON'T USE FILE SHARERS!

I read an aritcle the other day (from my local paper) about the music labels/company's getting IP address from the people who use it. Then they'll go after you and sue you!

I'll certainly retract this if anyone can show that what I read was a lie. But until then I'm not going to use any.
I have big plans, now if only I could see them through.

I also heard a Radio 1 DJ telling the public not to bother downloading music, since the tracks 'were of poor quality and often contained viruses'

In other words, it's a load of bollocks from a music industry with no power to stop you using P2P other than scaremongering

AFAIK New Line (I think) only bought the rights to the trilogy.  Incidentally, on the subject oif file shares, most IP address are  - IIRC - allocated dynamically by the ISP's server, which makes it more difficult to trace.  Not 100% (not bothered checking up), but I have very little faith in the newspapers' ability to actually report correctly on tech stories.  more likely they were regurgitiating a press release sent out by the record compainies as a 'scare' tactic.

Given that I've seen several hundred thousand people on Kazaa at a given time, and that suing is itself a costly process, i doubt that any tactic could honestly be succesfully implemented - the cost of the legal action would vastly outwiegh the profit if that person had actually bought the CD's in question.

For what it's worth, get it here: www.swooh.com/peon/diamondgeezer/blah/The Hobbit.mpeg

Further to the P2P rumour mongering, Kazaa may be introducing paid membership. I trust we all know where to get Kazaa Lite, children?

Sadly that's not true. At least not in the US.

Heh, its definately a fake... All of those scenes except the dragon ones are from LotR movies already released. Besides, even if they weren't, why would it be released in December 2006 if they already have that much done? It wouldn't take 3 and a half years...

But yeah, the RIAA sucks my balls.

And further to Stryke's infallible prognostication record, Kazaa may soon see an 80% drop in membership, paired with an analogous rise in usership among some similar, free system.;)
