Hello there,

i have a problem creating new ship-models with truespace 3.1, because every time i save the scene, and convert it to a *.pof-file,
there will be some new lines and surfaces
appearing, which are invisble in the wireframe-view and also in truespace itself,
so i cannot delete them manual.

The resulting new surfaces are textured and appear in the objekt in Freespace. I tried serveral time with a lot of models, but every time there is at least one of them in my model. So i think, this is a truespace-
problem. It is hard to describe, i hope you can help me anyway. (How can i add pictures to this topic, it would make it much easier ?)

I hope that someone is familiar with this problem and can help me.

Greetings

Starman

your problem is caused by the current unstable temporal flux of the universe. realign the astral balance, count to 10, and try again.

What do you use to convert your models into *.POF?
if you aren't useing Kazan's PCS i suggest you get it's the best converter out there whit the rest of the *.POF edeting tools.

I have the same problem, and I heard that I should probably reverse the faces that keep dissapearing...
I haven't tried it yet because I haven't figured ot how yet, I'm using MS3D

You select the face, then select the 'reverse vertex order' or something in the 'face' menu.

Hi,

i don't think this a problem of the converter. The unwanted faces are already
existing in truespace before converting.

Reversing the faces is impossible, because these faces aren't selectable. (There not visible in the wirefrane, only when placing textures to the face.

If i reverse the face, which edges are creating the unwanted lines, i destroy the whole modell by doing this.

I think, that there must be an option to turn on or off, maybe it has something to do with the lights. I have tried several times, every function, but im still not getting a clue.

Does someone have any other ideas ?

Probably you should show us a picture of your problem. What you need is a webspace to upload it to and then put the adress of your image in [ img ]www.webspace.com/myimage.jpg[ /img ] tags (without the spaces).

mmm on ts5 there is a "unhide all objects" button, but its for objects you setted as invisible in keyframe/trueview...
there is another possibility,
if  you delete a group of vertex to create holes or similar sometimes truespace add invisible faces... i'll try to post a pic later, but remember to render the object after deleting vertex....you may have to use polgon draw/slice/add edges to create the faces on the perimeter of the holes cause sometimes truespace create faces not recognizable that cover the holes
