Docking operation countdown timer
Well, I have seen it somewhere that while a ship was doing docking operatiion, it had a countdown clock indicating how much time is left before the ship detaches from the dockee ship. Can somebody do this? Because I haven't discovered it yet.

You're being something of a cocky bugger lately, TopAce. Looks like I'm not the only one starting to take exception.

Why would you make a post saying that anyways? Maybe I should just post saying "it's 3:09... look at the time." That's really retarded, not mean though. :wtf:

Alright guys give it a ****ing rest already.

Over the last few days people have been getting incredibly vindictive on here and frankly there's no need for it.

Yes, TopAce was being a tosser by posting what he did. Bad TopAce, go be spanked by the nice lady in the black pvc in the HLP basement.

The rest of you, if you're irritated at what he did then say it once and then either help the man or leave the thread alone. C'mon fellas this isn't really what this place will boil down to is it?

TA, I'd say its somewhere in the SEXPs, but I'm not sure where.:)

Well I've never seen anything like this that I can remember. Docking gives a countdown like waypoints when the docker is approaching the dockee... but I can't think how or why a countdown would appear telling you when the ship was going to undock, any more then for any other event. Unless it's one of Goober's millions of SEXPs which I haven't heard of...

Someone once suggested adapting the supernova timer to work as a generic timer, but it never went farther than the suggestion.  I'd find it annoying, personally.  Best thing to do IMO is have the docking craft send a message as it docks: "Commencing docking operation, ETC 90 seconds."

(ETC = Estimated Time to Completion)

Yeah there isn't really a way to do this with the stock SEXP's.  In starcraft you could use a generic timer in scripting, but because a docked ship will un-dock as soon as it is assigned that order there is no way for the game to count down to it.  Use a message to give updates.
