Anyone like Astronomy?
Hey everyone! Been away a while, I know, been taking in the RARE and beautiful weather here. Anyway, I just broke out my old telescope from when I was a kid and have totally got suckered into Astronomy? You wanna know why? Well, since I moved into this appartment, each night I always saw this one star go by my window, and I always took it as a sign for me to go to bed, because it was always around 12:30 and 1:00. But lately I started to wonder what real star it was, because its become such a rutine sight. Well it turns out to be none other than... CAPELLA! :D So now I've totally gone nuts with my telescope and looking at everything! Anyone here do it? I also managed to take a rather nice photo of mars the other day too!

OK. So I might be getting a little over exited. But its still quite cool to see stuff millions of KM aways other than by seeing it on tv. Viewing it from your own home makes it more... "real".
I have returned... Again...

CAPELLA! Wow :)

Yea, stargazing is a nice hobby.
Too bad most of us nowadays got at least streetlights (if nothing else) to mess up the night sky :(

No point to get a telescope here.. if i lived at rural area i'd get one, for sure.

Yeah, light pollution really ruins the fun of stargazing :(

'S interesting stuff, but it's crap where I live. You have to drive for like an hour into the hills to get away from the lights, and even then you can only just see the Milky Way, and it's still kinda faint.

Dark_4ce: Have you seen Saturn yet? You need a big-ass telescope, but it's beautiful if you see it with it's rings. I got to have a go with a big 8-inch 'scope at my local college observatory - that's always worth a try.
Any fool can pull a trigger...

we have a fairly big home telescope, but my parents never drag it out (nor will they let me drag it out)... :(

The only lights in the sky at night here are the overpassing planes. And these wierd flashes and ****, but you can barely make out the Big Dipper on a good night. I'd almost forgotten they were there when I went out on a trip a month back and actually got to see the Milky Way for the first time in... years, possibly.

My family home is right next to Heathrow. Buggered if you can see more than one star at a time. Bastards.

August 28th, Mars, BE THERE.

I live in phoenix, AZ, ... so the city lights block out the stars pretty bad... but i do live in a rural area, so its not too bad.  Even if you drive 100 miles away, you can still see the glow from phoenix city lights.

I have a good sized telescope, it looks like a sci-fi weapon of some sort.  boomboom.

You had some left? At this point, I've resorted to losing respect for the people who have respect for him... and at the rate he's going, I'll have to stop respecting the people who respect them any day now.

The last time I saw a post of his was that thingy with the sphere he'd made. Which was a nice model. I hope Narol knows what he's doing.

Ooh. Just took a look at the sun right now. Thats also cool to look at! Can't see any flares though, cause I don't have any lenses that can make an artificial eclipse and I think you can only have thoe on BIG telescopes. But I do see clearly all its sun spots and stuff. Fun fun fun.... :D

Well, except for that one time, in church. Naked. With the feces-throwing.
