2gb of ram?

If you're spending that much $, get a USB Joystick (I got the Wingman Extreame digital USB for $29.99) was 39.99 last year.

I hope you have USB ports (;) )
Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !

USB stick is the way to go, Carl. Or you could buy any cheapass sound card. they all have game ports. If you don't have a game port, you're probably getting by with onboard sound, which sucks Vasudan nuts, to begin with.

it's kinda old, wingman precision pro. i don't really like force feedback.

it just pissed me off that it has maybe a dozen USB ports and no joystick port.

I got 2. :blah:

I have to decide wether I want to use my joystick for the day, or change what is on my mp3 player.

Usually if there's no port on the motherboard, your audio card should have one. If you don't have an audio card, then your 4000 comp is using onboard sound, which would be strange for that price.

Are you sure your mobo didn't come with any extra slots that can be placed in one of the PCI housing slots and then attached to your mobo? They usually come with this so that you can have a joystick port, like in the image below (it's the piece in the right top):

Cheers!

Carl: I feel your pain. USB stick is not an option for me, so I found a sound card somewhere and plugged it in. Voila, joystick port!

I got myself a Saitek X45(USB HOTAS setup), and it rocks with Freespace 2. The only controls I don't have mapped to the stick and/or throttle are the ETS controls and communications. If you have the money($75), it's a solid buy. It's a digital stick, but not force-feedback.

The Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold is also a good buy, if you're looking for something inexpensive. It's as good(better IMO), than MS's Sidewinder Precision Pro 2, for about $40 less(it's around $20-$25).

My Logitech 3DE is being used in my joy port not usb (funny it has a problem with my new computer, the P4 1.8gig, ran fine with the P2 400MHZ?)

So I am using the extension that changes usb to old joy port that cam with stick LOL!!!

As for lack of force feedback, I didin't have the $ at eh time to get it so $40.00 was a good dal to me, Plus I wonder how often you have to replace the joystick CAUSE of the force feedback? Has anyone had their stick go dead or have problems from use? How long is the useable lifespan of a force feedback stick versus a regular digital/analog one??? L8tr!

What Card do you have?

For the Record, I actually use a Logitech Wingman gamepad (the tilt sensor one, but I don't use the sensor) for FS2 duties, it kick arse.  It also is a Gameport device that came with a handy-dandy little adapter to USB, which is where it lives.  I also have one of those Hammerhead Force feedback Game pads hooked up to the amazing $69 Dell, and it also came with an adapter.   I used to have a Joystick, but it broke, and now all it can do is very sluggish turns and random movements:( , makes a nice rattle though:blah:
