There's a user made campaign called "derelict" out there, but I'm having a problem with it. I can only get the .exe installer and when I go to install it, it gives me the following:

"Directory Freespace 2 is in: ERROR"

How do I get it to work?
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

The installer never worked for me either, but I know there's a .vp floating around somewhere. If I find it I'll upload it.

EDIT: zipped and ready to go.

I have the vp. It's 4.75 mb though which makes it too big for email and I've nowhere to upload it. Guess I'm not much help then.

No, I didn't install it to that directory.

Btw, I downloaded that .vp. What am I supposed to do with it?

Oh, duh. Sorry. Brain = non-functional right now.

I must comment on it. I like it, especially the part in the beginning about duct tape. One thing that I do not like about it is that it keeps exiting out of the game on that mission where we have to take out the SD Ctoth. More specificly, it does tha after about 5 seconds or so after the Ctoth shows up. Why does it do that?

I used to have random exits that seemed not so random after a while on one of the missions in Derelict. Can't remember the mission though. Never got past it either. :(

Well, this time when I approached the Ctoth, I didn't use my afterburners and I didn't put all my energy into the engines. Then it didn't randomly exit.
Want to hear another wierd thing? I was just replaying the main FS2 campaign and I got to the mission where you go undercover as a rebel (the first one in that loop). It says to go scan the Iceni. I target the Iceni and guess what it turned out to be? A Ulysses class fighter.

EDIT: And guess what fixed that Iceni being a fighter thing. Deleting the Derelict campaign VP file fixed it. Derelict was good though, I really did enjoy it.

Yep. That would fix the problem. A full explaination for why is in my FAQ in the technical section but basically it has to do with the Deralict tables overriding the standard FS2 ones.

I still have derelict installed, and I had no problem with the Iceni. It has a Cypher, or what the hell as an Iceni reskin, but it didn't disturb my main FS camp, the Iceni and Bosch :).

But the Knossos has Shivanish looking, which is not so annoying, unless I plan using it in Renegade Ressurgence. :D.

You must have have used the .bat file to turn it off or something first since Deralict removed the Iceni from its tables.
