The strange folk at the PCGamer Forum have started their own game-based shoutcast radio station.

I've had a quick listen, and it sounds bloody good, so I thought I'd bag it some publicity. ;)

When WA2 has video playback as integrated into the program and minimises to the taskbar as well as WMP9 then I might switch back to it but until then I refuse to install it on my machine.

This sounds interesting, although I question how long they'll stay active.

Never tried to play video on winamp, that's what media player classic is for, however I've never had a problem with winamp minimizing to the taskbar and it doesn't take me five mintues from deciding I want to play a song to actually playing a song like WMP does.

No, Winamp minimises to the System Tray, WMP minimises to the Task Bar (you know, that bit between the system tray, which is where the clock is, and the Start Button?). And Media Player Classic sucks, no playlist support and the worst file selection dialog ever devised. And if WMP takes 5 minutes to play a song, you need a better computer as obviously yours is a POS.

Dude, really - have you ever looked into the Winamp options?

Yes I have (that particular option was one pf the first things I checked and changed back when I used Winamp), and that's not the same thing. All that does is put a button in the taskbar, like every other Windows program, it doesn't put a toolbar there that allows you to easily control the application in the minimised state.

put a toolbar there

Or you can double-click the main winamp window, hide the other two, and set it to always-on-top.

Can that first one be auto-hidden or does it just sit at the top of the screen taking up space? Also, it's not exactly compact, is it? Can it be made any smaller? And above all else, it still fails to adress the fact that Winamp can't play video worth **** and uses an annoying detached Window when it does. If there's a toolbar plugin for WA3 (as well as a decent multimedia key plugin, the last one I tried kept crashing it on exit) and a skin that integrates the audio, video and visualisations the same way WMP does then I might siwtch back but atm, WMP9 meets my needs perfectly and Winamp is nowhere near winning me back. WA was a good play in its day but the sun has well and truly set on that day.

edit: In other news, I finally got XMMS to play the stream but I can't hear anything at all. It's seems to load and play fine with the spectrum analyser meters moving just no sound. Regular MP3s play fine.

Face it, Winamp rules supreme as it can read the Homeworld music, and s3m files, these being the UT and DX music.

What more could you ask?;)

I'm confused then. Mind posting a screenie of this favorite toolbar feature WMP9 has?

And (in response to your post after the one I quoted) what is worng with Winamp's detached video window? On one hand, it takes up the least amount of screen real-estate if you like watching vids like that, and on the other hand, when in fullscreen mode, what does it matter?
