Vasudan pilots love the Serapis fighter for its speed and manouverability, but it lacks the armor to engage in prolonged battles. Consequently, Vasudan contractor Akheton produced a radical redesign of the Serapis to increase the fighter's survivability. Renamed the GVF Saqqara, these fighters are not as fast or agile but equip the same B-96 shielding system as the Bakha bomber. Tacticians are more willing to send in the Saqqara for space superiority duties, where it can take a beating and still win the battle.

My first 'published' mesh. I did the original mesh, GE tweaked it and did everything else. :D

Yay!

KT was sending me some of his WIPS with his messing aroud in Max, and I loved this model so much I textured and converted it on the spot. This is the result. I think it will lend itself very well to reskins, so I threw in the wireframe map template as well.

Besides, you can never have too many Vasudan space superiority fighters.

texturing looks too stretched across the spine. I woulnd't mind seeing either a wireframe or a well lighted, untextured version of the model.

GE thought the same, so he threw in the wireframe. Tis' in the download. :)


On a seperate note, does anyone know if I'm supposed to put this kinda stuff on fileplanet, or is that just big stuff?

There is only one thing what I cannot understand: how can you use those stupid fighter textures so well?

First I textured different parts with different textures; I used the Serapis and Thoth textures, as well as the Hades engines and tile5. After it looked adequate I unwrapped the thing and made a full-body texture. Then I loaded that texture into Photoshop and refined it.

On second thought, upsets too many things to add it for now.  Keep working on it too..I played around with it a bit and it needs some texture fixes and I think it looks a bit too much like a squished Serapis and not quite a unique ship of its own.  Its a hybrid or whatever of the Serapis but it needs a little character yet.
