That's an interesting idea--but where would I mount them? The Zero Labor has them mounted on L-brackets from the shoulders. I could do the same here, but all I could do is put them above and below the side docking collars. That doesn't move them or really change them much from the raised pylons that I've already got.
Maybe I'll do some other civilian designs, like police and emergency vessels and the like.
Police... emergency... I can see it now...
"911 emergency response, please state your emergency."
"This is Alpha 2, I'm calling to report a collision. My wingmates just flew into each other."
"Alpha 2, I'm dispatching police, fire and emergency vehicles to the scene. Try to remain calm, and wait there until they arrive."
With the way FS AI flies, a police force would have their hands full just handing out citations

Seriously though, I like the idea. Lightly armed and armored (sub military grade) and fairly small, but with a little bit of flare. The kind of thing where you would see them in an urban setting without looking grungy. However, I'm not sure what kind of energency one would have in space that would require that kind of response. Collisions between armored craft don't seem to bother anything inside the ship, and collisions strong enough to get through any armor inevitably will depressurize the cabin and kill anyone inside. A civilian merchant fleet (complete with tugs for when ships break down) would be really nice to see though, as well as a police force flying one or two types of ships that can defend trade lanes against rogue thugs who have somehow gotten their hands on a ship.
