Is there a way to put the player's ship in Alpha 2, or Beta 2, or even any other ship than always that Alpha 1?

It just makes little sense that you fly the Squad leader's ship in the early missions where you don't have too much authority... It'd be better if you're not allowed to fly Alpha 1 until you've gotten to the Blue Lions missions (where you actually are the squad leader), that way, you'd have to earn your place at the top.

(I'm talking about single-player) :)
The shortcut to impossibility does exist, we just have to find it! I will...

Yes. Save the mission you're making, then open the map in notepad


Then copy the flags from under lpha 2 to one, and Alpha 1 to two, or whichever wingmen... It works. :)

make the mission a multiplayer temporarily. make alpha 2 or whoever a player ship, and remove the player ship checkbox from A1, then make it a single player mission.

This is the method I am using, too.
I just wonder to know why is it forbidden to put our hero into Beta wing. :hopping:

most of tyhe messages wouldn't really make sense as they're nolonger directed at you (Alpha 1 that is)

You could also get FRED 3.5.5 and just hit "Set As Player Ship" for the other ship. :)

Safety tip: you can only adjust your loadout if you're in Alpha, Beta or Gamma wing. Put yourself in Delta, for example, and you're stuck with what you give yourself in FRED...


If you're not happy with this fact, Goober's the man to yell at :D

It's all Aldo's fault. See, it had, er, certain ships of his in it. Well, only one actually, and an old one at that. The plan was for the Reci boys to beta test it so that we could think about releasing it as an offshoot or maybe even a demo or something. But it's been sat there since Christmas with narry a reply. I was recently considering poking Aldo again but to be honest I don't think I've got a big enough virtual stick to stir him in to action. If you're interested, go bug him for permission and I'll set you up with the files :nod:
