*moving definitively out of theme the topic*

i don't have the time to write something like a photoshop tutorial (and since i know..hmmm i think not more than 70% of this prog i don't know if i'm the right person to make one)
the most that i can do for you now is giving you some of mine *.psd files (that i created using no more of 30% of the program) so you can have an idea of some of the strategies you can use in creating textures.
there are two main ways to have a shape in photoshop: using vectors (shape tools..suggested since they are resolution-indipendent) or using the selection tools to make the shape, then fill the selection.
unfourtunately i don't have much files with vectors, since i reasterized quite all of them (i trasformed vectors in filled layers), the only one i have is this, a texture that isn't still definitive:
http://members.fortunecity.com/aranbanjo/backbump.psd i have uploaded two more files, that are pretty simple, with a small number of layers, that i think may be of some help:
http://members.fortunecity.com/aranbanjo/TIwing.psd and
http://members.fortunecity.com/aranbanjo/tdbak.psd i haven't zipped those files so they are of about 300k the first and 700k the second and the third.
check expecially the blending options of the layers, i used a background layer common to all the textures, most of the other layers have fill opacity setted to 0% and general opacity setted to 100%, in order to have only the bevel effects viewable.
if you need more suggests..just ask...on forum or mail, your choice

bye
