Be honest: Capella nova
Please be honest here. I am curious.
Did you survive the last mission the VERY first time you played it?

Being killed by a Shivan ship doesn't count. I mean 'to survive' only after the nova started. :)

I got killed good. 'Twas more than ten clicks from the node when the supernova began, I didn't even have a chance. :D

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

I was under fire from my wingmates after seeing the Saths and deciding it was time to defect. Not a single GTVA ship made it out of the system. Mwuahahahahah!!!!

I actually made it the first time, I was chasing a Manticore or something that flew into the node. Can't remember the specifics, as it was a long time ago (well before I discovered MODing, or HLP)

EDIT: voted for yes, although I wasn't a good pilot. Just got lucky:D

I blew up at the EXACT moment I hit alt-j to escape.  Probably less than a second from safety - if I'd thought to ramp up my engine energy, I'd have made it :)

I made it no problemo with about 10 seconds to spare. Though the second time around playing the campaign I got toasted, a few times.

I voted NO.  I will have all you know however that I was there with time to spare and was hit with a random occurance of the jumpout bug where I couldn't jump out at all.  With little or no time at all I obviously couldn't jump and bammo was killed.  Looked awesome however :)
