The funny thing about that mission is you're just flying along, blasting shivans and suddenly this "Supernova Warning" pops onto your screen with a timer, and I'm thinking "uh, what's that?". And then you wait about 5 seconds, until later finally Command says 'oh damn, get your ass to the node people'. And then you think "yeah, that's what I thought it was . . . oh ****"

I lucked out and was nearby, plus I was in my trusty Perseus, so I was able to motor out of there

I was chasing down some Shiven bombers when the nova started. I turned to the node and tried to make it but didn't.

yes and actualy capella didnt blow up until all the allied ships had left. or most of them. It was some sort of bug where if you dont kill a certain ship capella doesent blow.

Unfortunately for me, I was flying the Ares and was moving very slowly (quickly for an Ares since I diverted everything to the engines) towards the node.  If I had 5 more seconds I would've made it for sure =(

I found it hilarious hwo the cutscene said that I chose to stay behind to save the civilians.  I was like, "No, I was running my tail off trying to get out and got burned"

Every time I play it, I always seem to get toasted as the jump-out sequence is about to start. Still, that's my fault for always choosing to fly the Potato...

I actually made it to the node (in a mega heavily damaged Perseus) soon as the counter started I just ran.
Then the ending went on about "Alpha 1 staying behind" I was, like, who, me?! :)

I mentioned this before i think...
When the notice came, i thought " one more bomber...lets see it blow to smithereens..."
When it blew, i looked up at the node which was 5 Kilometers out with only 30 seconds to go.

i was about 9 kilometers from the node when the star went nova. i high tailed it for the node but was still icing shivans on the way. thus, i was about 1 kilometer off when the wave hit. i liked the ending that resulted since it struck me as appropriate and never replayed the mission.

I *could* have made it to the node..... but unfortunately i spent at least 15 seconds completely still, just staring at the sun and watching it bigger, going "wow... it's getting bigger".  Then i tried to get to the node and i dissintigrated.
