Small Fred question...
Ok, I'm testing some missions I have for a campaign I am making but I can not figure out how in the world to get rid of "commands" comments.  How do I do it?

I have my own speech when something bad shows up and the last thing I want to see is command popping up and saying "IFF confirmed, hostiles inbound" or what ever he says.

Can anybody help me?  THX!  ;)

It's a box in the mission specs window, something about disabling the default messages, or summat.

Ok, another question.  I made a few voice files for my mission.  They are PCM 8 bit mono.  What else do I need to do to make them work in game?  When ever I try to load up FS_Open to test them out the mission crashes back to windows.

The box in the mission specs editor will turn off that message from command but it will turn off all the messages from command and your wingmen. That maybe what you want but what you may find more useful is to go to the wing editor for the ships that are arriving and click on the no arrival message box.
That way you still get "Behind you, pilot!" style messages.

Okay. I'll give it a try. :)

FS2 likes standard .wav files (or ones encoded with the Microsoft ADPCM codec IIRC).

FS2_open hasn't added anything to that (please add ogg guys!) so if you suspect the voice files may be dodgy why not make a simple 1 event mission in the retail version and try out your sound files there?

At least that way we would know that it is the sound files that are the problem and not a problem in the mission itself.

Ok I figured it out.  The File names were too long!  That was it.  I renamed them to about 5-6 letter each and they worked just fine (sounds so dorky to have you voice in mission though!)

karajorma, I like that info about the wing men stuff!  Maybe I will keep the wingmen voices and only have the transports and other ships voiced.  THX!

Ask me a harder one then :D

I love puzzles and since the VBB closed down taking the excellent FRED board down with it I don't get many FRED puzzles :(
