Doods. Maybe you should read about the ship before you make judgements.

It's *not* a gatling gun, but a cluster of smaller beam weapons mounted around a central point. When you think about it, it makes a great deal of sense. More weapons taking up less space and able to tap into the same power grid from a centralized location.....

however it also has weaknesses...like one well placed beam hit and the lot are gone.  also focusing firepower on a big unmanuverable destroyer makes it vulnerable to flank and rear attacks.

I dunno, they just don't really do it for me. Typhon textures don't either. Guess I'm not a loyal FS1-er :nervous: might be cool to see some really great innovative new textures though. :nod:

Yes, I agree, but that's the beauty of it. Why should it be perfect? If we built the perfect dreadnaught (I refuse to use the term "destroyer"), what would be the point in trying to improve it or build new models? A design weakness would make for a great story device.

Besides, not *all* of its beam weapons are in that cluster.

Heh, personally, the Orion and Typhon textures (the latter's particularly) remain my favourite in all FS. Well, each to his own. ;)

I like that ship greatly, TrashMan, it looks very Gorn.
As for the original Orian textures, they rule, and as for that giant gun, I've no quarms with it, as long as it does have more anti-cap beams elsewhere.

Also, I seem to remember a different Orion MkII, back in the day. It had black textures, and was the same model as the usual Orion.

Upped the polycount more...now it's about 750 polys....

Now I will start adding turrets and make lother LODS....

I ask again... Anyone want to texture it?

I'll even put the thing for public download....maby...

I'm kinda very short with time and I don't know if my skill will be enough... But if no one replys I guess I'll have to do it mysef...

I dunno what it is.. I don't much care for the Orion/Typhon textures, but then I don't care for the Hecate/Colossus either (but then, not many do)... man, come to think of it, the only textures that I actually think look real good are the Deimos, maybe the Hatshesput (err, sp?) and the Ravana/Demon/Sathanas group really.. but I suppose the rest are all good. But what do I know, I haven't modeled or textured anything before! ;) I'm just biased to my favorites. :p
