I gave up on Volition a while ago. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't play a PS3FS3 (wishful thinking at best), a console controller isn't fit for freespace style games.

Consoles DO get obsolete quick, I can still play games from 1985 on my PC. I can't do that with a PS2.

I dunno. StarTrek: Invasion wasn't a half-bad space-sim.

Add a PS-mouse to the concoction and FS on a PS would probably be pretty good.

I guess the PS2 keyboard or some mouse thing could be used... it wouldn't feel too freespacey though, it'd be dumbed down.

For a console...oh yeah, thats for sure it would be.  Although in a sense WCP was a bit dumbed down from previous versions and that game was really good gameplay wise.

I think that since Volition has shown itself to be sucky, at best, with RPGs and Shooters, they should go back to what they do best: Space Sims (duh). However with the Freespace rights in legal-limbo-land™ (I know Interplay no longer has them, but who does?) I think they should make a non-FS related Space sim. For PC of course, a space sim on a console would be like blasphemy or something.

i think this is all an elaborate sceme to sell a couple hundred more playstation threes, because if FS3PS3 does happen, it's not like we have a choice.

It's not impossible to create an emulator running on a PS2. It's just not viable.

Alright, so a game costs the budget of a single episode of a TV show such as Enterprise. :p

Plus the cost is divided over the development cycle. (1-3 years)

yes, but then again, the same applies to lots of products. It can cost millions to make a prototype for a children's toy. Assembly lines and mass manufaturing spreads that cost out for each one that's on the market. eveything is expensive.
