It can come handy in a variety of situations.

One major reason is that, bulky things don't tend to make bullets and shrapnel bounce of as much as something smooth.

There's only one real reason to streamline a Herc: because it looks cool. Cool Factor is pretty much the only important thing in science fiction^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hfantasy design. :D

Okay, lay down the crack pipe.

Both official Hercules versions (and the extremely Herk-esque Ares), have been all about packing gobs of weapon points into a stubby, slow-moving, heavily-armored package. Like its mythological namesake, slow, tough, and muscular.

This new "Hercules" looks to be the exact opposite of all these principles.

Actually, I'd say that the Herc Mk2 was very much a curvier, more streamlined Herc Mk1. The Aries is just a Herc Mk2 with soem engines added. A Mk3 could very easily be longer and slimmer, as this one is.

Of course, you can just disagree Zylon. No one is going to force you to pilot one. Promise.

Its great model! And yeah I guess it looks like what the new Herc should look like... the same toughness with added speed and maneuverability, just like the H2 was to the H1
Yeah, I know you were waiting for a very nice sig, in which I was quoting some very famous scientist or philosopher... guess what?!? I wont indulge you...

Why, you ask? What, do I look like a Shivan to you?!?

You know, this HercIII actually seems like a second-generation Erinyes than a Herc.  Even the tech description places it as a space superiority fighter (better speed, less missiles, more guns; the Herc was renowned for it's missile-carrying abilities and this shouldn't be removed IMHO), while the Herc is a heavy assault fighter.  Not quite the same thing, and I think the Mk line should fall in to the same role from one generation to the next.  However, as a space superiority or elite fighter this thing would fit the bill quite nicely.

Ticonderoga model is coming out as the GTFg Atropos and GTFg Sovereign class frigates in the TVWP (no the original textures, but it still kicks major ass.:D)

I agree that it is very cool,
and not a herc,
it looks like a fast well armored yet not too agile (slow rotation) figher, assault interceptor

I like it, don't care if it resembles the original or not.

Hell, I don't think the Mk II resembles the Mk I all that much except for the dingleberry hanging from it's loins...
