The viper designs looked a bit off to me, and I don't remember ever seeing a warp effect in a BSG ep, but hey, I'll take it. The trailer was groovy: it was very nice watching the Battlestars leaving orbit with the theme playing in the background. That one of the best background scores in television history.

Well this is interesting to say the least. The Viper stinks, quite frankly. We only get a fuzzy look at the Raider but from what I can see it looks like they've screwed that up too. The battlestar model on the other hand is quite excellent.  I didn't like the modern looking 3D HUD displays. I prefered the 70s terminal with the green triangles and crosses.

If the trailer gives any indication of how their going to approach space combat in the BSG universe, then that's not good news. The Vipers and Raiders are too evenly matched. BSG is all about 10 Vipers mopping up 100 Raiders in about 10 minutes. Leaving the pilots enough time to get back, have a shower, a cup of coffee, and a nice game of pyramid. The action was too fast and too heavily heainfluenced by B5 and late DS9. The weapon effects were not nice. One good thing. It looks like one hit kills are in! That's good news as wiping out a whole wing of Cylon Raiders in 5 seconds is more fun than tailing a Mara for 5 minutes chipping away at it's shield. That's the essence of what a BSG game should be all about. Gung-ho fun.

same here. I had no problem with the completly overhauled starship troopers universe, plus I've never watched BSG, so... if it's cool, I don't give a damn if it's not cannon with a 20 years old series.
but I gotta say the game looks damn sweet:

And coz I'm nice: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/sim/battlestargalactica/index.html ( lot'sa pics and vids ).

Yeah, I'm with you, Venom* (as long as it flies by stick**, not mouse!).

* What's with the name change you bastard? I can't keep up!

** Speaking of sticks, it looks like no new stick for me again this year. I just got a speeding ticket this morning for driving 20mph over the limit. There wouldn't have been a ticket had I been 10mph over the limit (because of certain silliness with our state laws). It turns out that the road I was on did not have the speed limit I thought it did, and thus, I got Nicoed--er, nicked. :(

Send me your email address and I'll send you BSG stuff. That offer goes out to any decent modders with an interest. FS2 does a kick ass BSG.

I've got the Raider, Viper, Galactica and a FAR too high poly Base Star. But they're all pretty old now.....

A Galactica mod would really rock! There's a LOT of ships that were seen in the show, and there's a HUGE database of ships that weren't seen. Think of the possibilities of setting a campaign during the Cylon war, up until the truce!!

I'd often thought (okay, it wasn't all that often) that there should be a BSG FS TC out there. Never got around to asking why there wasn't, though.

Let's make one! :)

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

I'm on it! So's IP Andrews, or at least will provide a wodge of material!

shipschematics.net has a huge amount of 'stuff' which we can.....'use' even though 98% of it isn't canon. The BSG universe was never chokka with ships anyway. At least, not in the way that B5, SW or ST was.

So. Are there any modders out there with an interest in BSG who are willing to help Killfrenzy out?

I don't care where the idea came from, if they don't release it on PC I will be visiting with a baseball bat :)

Vipers with Missiles? Hmmmmm I remember three toilet roll tubes and a Fairy bottle, but I don't remember missiles :D

Flipside :)

And yes, Very very Freelancer graphics, I reckon it's mouse control again. And I really hope you like flying vipers ;)

I know they used footage of a NASA rocket to represent a missile fired by the Galactica in one episode. Also there's a rag tag fleet ship made out of film cans. They were always doing stuff like that. Those wild and crazy guys!

I had a few extra BSG ships, but noeone was able to help then... (have to check to see if I kept them or chucked them, like the prison ship, a cargo hauler, and a Cylon BASE STAR, maybe a transport also... Oh and the galactica shuttle...

Anyway I AM a purist... Richard hatch has spent the last 20 years (or Yaurens) fighting to bring back BSG as it was in teh original series (pretending Galactica 80 never happened)... He had MANY of teh surviving cast members behind him and would commit to teh new series if he could get it green lighted.. In fact he created a 3 inute trailer with featured the Heavily modified Warchip Galactica (after 20 years their tech increased and with Commander Appollo in charge they became more aggressive), also it showed the Scarlet Vipers... I poseted the model in a multi shot of WIP's I needed help with once.. SWEET but I do not like Scarlet color...  He cannot post it on the internet for some reason, and he cannot announce whenhe will show it (as a convention takes in money and he could be sued if he advertised it and Paramount (?) could sue him for making a profit. (it cost him over $20,000 to make it!), so basicly you can assume it will be shown at any appearence he is at but it is NEVER advertised... Has any of you seen it??? I hope to one day..

Tom Delosantos(sp?) offered to direct the mini-series (and mentioned he would stay true to the original vision, but got called away for X-men 2, so his replacement helped screw it up!!! Blame sci-fi, their $ backer, and the new directer if the mini-series turns out to crap all over the original. I have an open mind, but once you **** with the story that the majority of fans LOVE then you mess with your fanbase and their Wallet ($ we might have spent).... Thoughts?

BTW there was a reptilian race called teh cylons, they created machines to be slaves and soldiers, the cylons took over (except for  the imperious leader (The evil entity apollo faces off with and is killed (Apollo)and then ressurected by "angels"... Pactrick Mcgnee(SP?) from the Avengers is the voice of the Imperious leader, the Evil entity (basicly the DEVIL) and the Narrator for the intro to the show... "Life out there..."

Ask me anything, I  probably know it...(except for that!!)

I thought you knew your Galactica trivia!!

It was 'Living Legend' Part 2, and it was the Battlestar Pegasus that fired those missiles to dispose of a pair of Base Stars. The rocket in question is the third stage of the Saturn V separating in Earth orbit.

Oh, and Star Dragon, if you've got those models lying around I'll be happy to take them off your hands. :)

Make the models pubicly available. Even if they never get used for a BSG game, they can form the basis of other mods down the line. :)
