Guys - I think you should take care to evaluate the entire community on the basis of certain individuals. You wouldn't want that to happen to the FS community from others either, I guess!

Anyway - some models might look similar, but sometimes the model is a total remake, and that the original author wants a minimum of credits for his work is not that weird?

Also some models might look similar to others, but that does not mean it is the same... If we applied the above standard to music, how much would be original?

TNG specific ships designed by Spawn, Hadryon, and CaptainOblivious, these include ships from Freespace 2, Homeworld class ships, Wing Commander, & Bab5, and all unique class ships. We will be happy to supply a detailed list once we are finished.

They don't say anything about crediting the original designers.  This reads like those three guys designed, modeled, and textured the ships that their borrowing from those sources.

I don't mind them borrowing them mind you, just credit the original designers and don't claim them as your own.  It's dishonest and mis-represents your skillz.

Know the facts before you start accusing. Both me AND Hadryon have stated the the ships in question were not original designs in other places, and were told that that was enuff. I have also siad that my Manticore Mk II Is BASED off of Volition's SF Manticore, but im not the one who completely ripped it off (That wwas Caid a few weeks ago). Now you Can go on say i "stole " it from you but since its not in the game yet nor is the model released you really dont knjow. (MUltiple images posted in the forums at Lancersreactor AND PLanetirg.net  stating that it is a modification of the manticore DESIGN. I never touched the POF file.)

What's everyone getting so pissed off about? All that statement seems to be saying is that they would prefer that certain mods were only used in their mod. That's exactly the same thing we do over here. Most of the big campaigns have ships that they are keeping exclusively to themselves.
 If you want to have a go at them why aren't you having a go at the Star Wars or B5 mods for not immediately releasing everything?

Besides even if they ported every single ship into Freelancer that would be good for the community as it would be an advert for the game.

yeah, you guys, are, realy over reacting, this is less invasive than some of the SW/SL/WC mods I've seen for FS2. comeon, maybe we can get some new fans out of this

Since it is an original model, and credit for the inspiration was given, I don't see a problem here.

If anything, this is an opportunity to convert over FS ships to Freelancer to do some good old fashioned space sim community building.

Afterall, HLP is supposed to be a *space sim* community site with a focus on FreeSpace, right?

Yep, that's the deal. Hell, we even have our own (very very quiet) Freelancer forum. I don't know what the big deal about all of this is, it's just a mod like many we have around here. Chill out everyone.

Ill give you guys, your one hell of a lively crowd. I apologize for the spelling errors, i was trying to type really fast and trying not to sound like a totall rectum. Actaully i have a reltively hi detail version of  THAT  Manticore but i really would like to ad some details to it if i was to release it. I was planning to hopefully make "Sequels" of other FS series ships (i know somone has demanded a new Deimos from me). ON a Side note i am still waiting on an email reply from Volition, as i emailed them to get their thoughts on this earlier this week.
