Hello there, am new to the forum so be gentle. Well just installed FS2 (no mods) and patched it. It loads up to the enter pilots name screen ( through the FS2 loader) after entering my name it crashes . Pressing enter or using the mouse makes no difference. The crash is straight to the desktop, no errors.
My specs

P4 2.4HT
1024 RAm
GeforceFX 5600
Windows XP Pro

Re-install does nothing.
I got it running on my bro's AthlonXP machine and was really getting to love those trebuchet's Any help will be appreciated.

You're running FS2_open or FS2? (seems like open to me. I don't remember FS2 retail having an errorlog).

IF you're having the problem with the retail version try FS2_open it may solve your problems.

No, that's the retail version (it's FS2.exe, not fs2_open_whater.exe). Hmmm, that's a really early spot to crash - I suggest grabbing the V1.20 patch (here) and making sure you have the latest drivers for all your gear. And, welcome to HLP.

check your available hard drive... Without about 300Mb open, FS won't run... XP might be rearing its head in this case again too...

I had the same problem when i tried to use the high-res menu once. Try using the 640 32 bit and see if that makes any difference.

I've used the update button of the FS2 launcher and downloaded the patch, its version 1.20. Got 4Gb free on the XP drive and 40Gb free on the freespace drive (different partion). GeforceFX drivers are up to date.
Tried using lo res on the launcher but it still crashes after the pilots name is accepted. I have no idea what the problem could be. Re-install does nothing.
Have considered installing Win9x on a new partition, but it seems a little OTT, and the hassle!!! Keep those ideas coming  though, surely i'm not the only one whose had this problem!! ARRGGG!!

Funny you should mention that, i've been looking through the site (its gonna take a while to understand most of it) and i noticed FS2_open. Looks like the modding community has been mighty busy since the Colossus went kaput.
I might just give it a try though it looks pretty scary and like Solatar said, i'll be REAL cautious.
Hope those FTP's got free slots. I'll let ya'all know if FS2 ends up being more than an enter you pilots name experiance.
