š = sh (eng.) or sch (german) - like in **** or schule

è = ch(eng.) like in charge

æ - basicly the same, but a bit softer, like tsch(geramn) in tschuss

ž - mhhh... difficult to explain this one...closest comes to the german word vitrage (it would be vitraž in Croatian)

dž - umm...unexplainable

ð - pronunced like thw beggining of the word jam (ðem)

Hm..interesting. You have almost the same insults in Croatia as we do in Yugo. I really didn't know that.

Naturally...Croatian and Serbian are just a bit more different than American English and Brittish English.....

Less different actually. I consider them to be the same language for all intents and purposes, cause I really couldn't care less that some politician decided to draw an imaginary line on a map and declare that we're different people all of a sudden. I can understand Croatian perfectly, since 98% of the words are the same, and the ones that are different I know or I can guess..

Sadly, the blacan people (Croats, Serbians, people from BIH, etc...) are extreemly obscene. We have an insane amount of insults, which is nothing to be proud of...

We do have, however, a FAR less number of teen mothers (we're not as sex obsessed as Americans, alltough that is changing).

Allso, we don't have as nearly as high a percentage of shrinks in the general population. (we don't need them - we're sane)

I belive that this is because we are very strong in our religion and much better disciplined. We do undersatnd the consequences of our actions while well...American girls often disregard those consequences and that kind of behaviou often gets them into problems.

TrashMan is right, I live in the USA and have, a teenage daughter she (Sarah) is 17 and isn`t due untill some time in febuary, she is in her last year of high school..

Oh boy did my wife flip out when Sarah told her she was prego.
Took three days for her to calm down and finally talk to Sarah. I told Sarah that right now her mother doesen`t know how to deal with this right now, and give it a few days, oh my wife did come around, and now they talk and get along like they did before.

Me, I have excepted it from day one, and still respect Sarah, she is a straight A student, has been on the honor roll at school for 3 years in a row.. I told my wife Patty, if her grades begin to slip, which they haven`t, then we should worry..

All our relitives think she won`t make the grade, but I have told her to show all them what she`s made of.. What can I say i`m still proude of my daughter, and she respects me for my support..

I for one am always proud of the drink/swear/steal/be lazy attitude that is prevalent (well, prevalent is pushing it a bit, but its common, atleast in my stereotypes) among the Balkan people. Well, I meant that in the best way possible, err...you know what I mean.

the worst thing i can think of is hearing i got someone pregnant that early in life...

Well I don`t think it as being nosy, just curious, theres nothing wrong with that..

As a family (me, my wife and daughter, we all sat down and had a family disscussion, and it was decided to let my daughter and her boyfriend stay together, after all he is the father and I cannot see keeping him away from his child to be sorta speak..

The day my wife found out Sarah was with child, she threatened to break her and her boyfriend up, but I warned her it would only make matters worse than they already are and that the damage was already done, oh and abortion was out of the question because she wasen`t raped..

Kasperl:  And now to answer your question, her boyfriend Mike supports her and even takes her to her doctors oppointments, buys her clothes we have since let him move in with us to show our good intensions, boy was he shocked, he didn`t expect this reaction..

TrashMan, I have already told her to expect some new twist, that she will have to deal with kids at school and such, which has already happened, but since I warned her to expect that she was ready with an answer, actually she has more supporting friends than she had expected, but a few did oppose and judge her, but she didn`t really care because she is her own person..

Mike reminds me of myself, and he has good intensions, but the down side to this is Mike wanted Sarah to move into an appartment with him, but we told him that was not an option at this time.. Sarah even said she will not turn against us and our wishes. I guess you could call that respect.
