Mark A: Yeah we need to be more anal about them, but not you know, super anal!
Mike D: (ears prick up) I think I’ve seen that film

Not really a game that appealed to me.

That's the problem. I've heard it was a bloody fine game, but I had no idea what it was, what it was about, etc.
Same with Project Eden, and countless others. Unsung games that nobody buys, simply because they're not sure what the hell they are.

I played Startropia, it was a good game at first, but the difficult level was on this exponential curve, it started off really slow, hardly moved for about 3 levels and then suddenly became nigh on impossible :(

Flipside :D

Startopia was / is basically a space stattion simulator in the Theme Park mould.  Except it's far more diverse - you can focus your station around a particular service, like providing prison facilities, or hospital beds, or just lots of Love Nests (alien brothels :) ).

And it's fecking genius.  Graphics are great, the whole sort of gameplay model is perfectly judged, there's a (quirky, and obviously British) sense of humour throughout and it just all hangs together brilliantly.  Almost certainly (and this is no exaggeration) the best game you never bought.

I did buy Project Eden (PC) though I've never really played it (got on a bit, then reformatted my PC when I finally got a windows disk).  I felt sorry for it, cos there was a solitary copy on sale at GAME for the pricely sum of one pound and nought pence.
