And we thought the sun was done!
SuperNova = star completely freaking explodes destroying itself

Nova = star ?temporarily? increases in diameter - more or less an explosion - but the star remains and doesn't blow away all it's planets, just the inner ones (like earth)

A nova is a nuclear reaction on the surface of a star due to gasses being pulled to it. Anyhow, it's not as bad as people make it out to be.

Science alone of all the subjects contains within itself the lesson of the danger of belief in the infallibility of the greatest teachers in the preceding generation . . .Learn from science that you must doubt the experts. As a matter of fact, I can also define science another way: Science is the belief in the ignorance of experts. - Richard Feynman

Not a Supernova, just a nova.

It's not. The sun is too young for that sort of thing (yet).
"The reason for this is that the original Fortran got so convoluted and extensive (10's of millions of lines of code) that no-one can actually figure out how it works, there's a massive project going on to decode the original Fortran and write a more modern system, but until then, the UK communication network is actually relying heavily on 35 year old Fortran that nobody understands." - Flipside

Sheer luck.

Aliens must think that Earth is the Alabama of the galaxy.  Especially judging by the kind of people they abduct.  Usually (but not always) some inbred, redneck, 3/4 retard out in the middle of nowhere...

Hey!

Have you ever been here?

Alabama is a great place to live.

We're not the rednecks that everybody thinks we are.  Yeah, there are a few around, but they're usually from way out in the middle of nowhere.

I like to think we're less pretencious than other, more cosmopolitan states.

Yeah, we've got some problems, but it's mostly because our State government is pretty corrupt and now that we've finally got an honest Governor, most people don't trust him.

I sincerely suggest that you come visit us on your next vacation.

Yeah, everybody says that.  People come to Alabama and expect us to be like Georgia economically.  What everybody keeps forgeting is that the largest city in the state, Birmingham, has fewer than 700,000 citizens counting the 'burbs.  I mean the state as a whole has about 4.5 or 5 million people living in it, with about 60% of those able to work and contribute to the public coffers.  By contrast Georgia has Atlanta which , by itself, has almost half the population of Alabama, when you throw in the rest of the state, Georgia has a lot more people to generate an economy.

One bright spot, Alabama has the lowest state income tax in the US.  Less monies for Education:(, and the general populace is to scared of Montgomery Insiders to allow a tax increase.  I could go on, but suffice to say that Montgomery is infamous for making under the table deals.  A large portion of the state budget is tied up in legislation, which doesn't allow it to be moved to a line item that needs it.

In 5 billion years the Sun will impolde (turn into a nova).

Actually the Earth will be burnt to a crisp when Sol goes through its red giant phase (it might be engulfed) then frozen.
