Afterburner troubleshoot
Hello,

I recently installed FS2 SFoY edition on my new machine. Everything works great(!) except for my afterburner! For some reason it does not fire, just makes the clicking noise that signals a burnout although it is completely ready to fire.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, please help.

BTW, I've got Win 2000 Pro, ATI 9800 All-In-Wonder pro, DirectX 9.0

Thanks for the help.

Whoops, should have read the thread under this one on the same topic. Next question: how do I do that?

well if your afterburners aren't firing, here's some troubleshooting procedures you should follow:

The afterburners are linked to the propulsion computers, which are under the seat.  there should be a green light on at all times.  if the light is blinking, it means afterburners are not charging.  if the light is red, afterburners are not responding.

tell me what the light is doing

Its green, but when I go to burn it turns yellow (depleted).

I have Win 2000, so I can't change anything in the properties tab of FS.exe; nor can I find anything in the registry.

This is actually the first report I've seen about a failure under Win2k.  I thought it was an exclusively XP bug.  Does your ETS work?

Energy Transfer System

The gauge on the bottom-right corner of your screen that controls how much power you're giving to guns, shields, and engines.  Try to adjust the settings.  It usually doesn't work when afterburners are out due to OS stupidity.

Ohhh.... *Laughs* whoops, I forgot that. ;)

But yes, it DOES work, graphic and all. Power output is routed.

Hmm, sounds like a new bug (at least it's the first time I've heard of it, and plenty of people around here use 2k).  Does FS_Open work correctly?  It's not an issue with your control configuration, since it's making the clicking sound.

You mean in the properties section if you double click on an executable? No.

That won't do any good; if it's making noise it's picking up the binding.  I'm sorry, beowulf, you've brought up a problem that no one here seems to know how to answer.
