A: Add a margin of error to the fire wait.
B: Make it so you can have casings eject from guns.

Can they be done?

you can already do that.
EDIT: Oh wait do you mean tech room models? Or do you mean missle models attached to a fighter before they are fired?

missle models, gun models, maybe turrets too and that would make recoil relitivly easy

Yeah but wouldn't it be easy just to implement my suggestions THEN move on to the bigger fish.

If you have a slower machine.
The biggest thing is the margin of error. It would be really nice if you could implement that.

lol, it was still on the first page so why the bump?  You think people forget things when they go to bed? :)

What does the fire wait thing do, anyway?

Stutter-fire I think. As for casings, not sure whether they would be useful or not.
Even missiles and guns attached to the hull is going to change the game so much... are these guns going to stop working when they are destroyed, will wing-mounted missiles explode if destroyed etc etc...  Lots and lots of work for modders.

\me likes!

Finally my Cutlass will look even more deadly when it carries Heatseekers on it's wingtips.

The gunmodels would be cool for spinning models in the techroom, though I'd like it that it is optional if gun models shows up on a ship too, since it would mess up the looks of some ships. On the other hand, if gunmodels make implementing gun recoil easier, I'm for it. Wait until you see my Gettysburg battlecruiser, and you'll understand...;7

I just want the fire wait to be a range, not a definite number so I can simulate machinegun fire which sometimes does stutter. (at least, thats how it looked in pearl harbor)

A range is more human, I agree.  It's not like the guy at the controls would fire the main beam the instant it cools down again either.  However, I'm not sure how AI would handle it.

Ats not a human factor it merely is because the machinery in a gun isn't always perfectly smooth and even.
