WIP: Freespace 2 Full Install - Yahoo Group
Ok, well, as everyone knows there work going on on getting a full install of FS2 out that includes the work of the SCP.

A lot of people have been taking time to look into the legality of this, and have been putting in an effort to get this off of the ground.

So, here's what I did.

I set up this yahoo group for my section of the playnow website, and I think it would be a great place to coordinate.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gaming-playnow/

I put up the files for both the installer and the text files that will go with it.

I have not touched them in two weeks, and there's a lot missing from them, but anyways, it's all up there for any one who wants to join and help out.

A big props to everyone whose been looking into all of these issues surrounding this.

Cheers!

[BTW the link to the group is also in my sig]

Well kudos for actually getting of your arse and doing something, but surely there's a less clunky way of conducting affairs than a Yahoo group? If you want webspace and lots of it, talk to Stealth.

I've already got webspace, but thanks for the referral.

I figure that the yahoo group is an easy place to place all the questions relating to this, and an easy way of coordinating this.

If other's don't agree, then that's fine. It'll get done another way amongst the community.

I figured it would be a good place to start coordinate a future release.

I've already got the package sitting on my hard drive. It's now just waiting for new releases from the SCP, since there's a lot of work they are putting in right now, and sorting out the documentation, and seeing what the legal situation is.

Cheers!

Right now, as it stands, I've just trown together the basic Lisence, info, and the Readme file.

The lisence is going to have to wait for all the legal ish to get sorted.

The Info file is just to say what has gone into this release, about the SCP, and the FS2 community contributions.

The README is still very much a WIP.

With the community effort to get the Wiki in order, and with the readme the SCP put togther, all of the pertinent info will be included.

It'll probably end up being more of a help file, than a readme, to make it easier to browse through.

Anyways, I'm just throwing around ideas.

Cheers!

Dakota emailed me back again. You may want to check it out, Fractux, and see what you think of the proposal.
