Besides, one of the main reasons why HLP
is a nice and friendly (if slightly insane) place - even for newbies - is because we
don't allow things to get out of hand.
Face it - no other board has anywhere near our level of activity per member per thread per whatever. Huge boards with tons of "freedom" are usually inhabited by 4 gazillion newbs who gome, post 3.5 times, and leave, with no desire to ever step foot there again, and by a few dozen monster posters who enjoy the 1337-ness of their huge postcounts.
And heavily moderated boards tend to remain just that - heavily moderated. People come, get their answers, and go, to return in a few months with another question. Aside from such activity, those boards are as dead as a graveyard - there's no community feeling at all.
HLP, meanwhile...
