a short axe, you can use it for most stuff you use a knife for too.
seeds for food
a gigantic amount of asorted nails, bolts, nuts, and other stuff like that, you can use the axe as a hammer, and you can construct a drill with a shoelace, two twigs and a shard stone.

alternatively, a satelite phone, enough food untill the rescue, and a credit card to pay for the rescue.

you know, i'd rather have a good axe then another person to share my food with, but if you assume that the island has some edible plants, you can replace the food with a friendly companion. though i wouldn;t want to convict someone else to life on an island with me.
