What the famous gunship AI is?

Hmmmm? What is it? And is it already completed, or going to be completed anytime soon?

It's going to be an AI for ships that are bigger than bombers and have forward-facing weaponry, but not quite big enough to be capital ships. Like the White Star in the Babylon 5 universe. None of the current AI types really fit with this kind of ship, so the term "gunship AI" was thought up.

To my knowledge it hasn't been really looked at much yet, just like all the other AI stuff. There's been planning, but apparently not much in the way on implementing it or any other AI improvements.
The nick is not a typo, it's a pun.

IIRC someone worked on it for a month or two and then set it aside, saying it was too hard.  I forget who did it and I don't know if they plan to revisit it.
