Actually, as a model, I quite like it, It wouldn't work in FS2 certainly, it is too alien, but none the less, it's a pretty good shape for Freelancer.

But why make weird changes like that?  Honestly, you've changed the character of the Deimos.  Before it the Brick, the non-nonsense solid frontline Terran warship.  Now it's all weird.

It's like someone did a shadomega except with Shivans and a Deimos.

Because the Deimos design sucked from the first? Call me crazy, but its one of the ship designs I've always hated (though not as much as I hated the Orion).

If it's going into the FL universe, I guess it fits, with the ,er, unique design additions and all that are prevalent in said universe. Not too bad a ship I suppose, though I daresay it would look very odd in Freespace.

You had a good idea, you just overdid it (ahem).
Take the original, add some polys, add some *nice*(and classy) greebles, and keep the defining atrributes of the ships (hard profile, sharp edges). Oh, and keep that "antenna" thing pokin out of the front

If you're going to do this kind of thing to all the FS ships, why bother actually using FS ships at all? This ship is way too far from the deimos to be a conversion, but too close to be a new design, ie. it falls squarely into the category of rip off, whether that was your intention or not. Surely you could put your modelling to work on entirely new ships, ones that would fit perfectly into Freelancer, without having to deface the FS ships like that?

That's rather unfair. Consider my Mjolnir: it shares only the most basic hull geometry with the Volition Mjolnir. Far less, in fact, than this Deimos. I think the guy did a pretty decent job.

I use the FS ships because i like the basic designs, i just made a newer version that will fit better in freelancer. And why make little additions or changes when you can vastly improve or redisign a ship, for better or worse. I jsut simply reimagined a new version of teh Deimos. At least i did it from scratch, not like one guy has dont,which is simply convert the POF's to cmp, add crappy hardpoints(most of hwich float above the ships) and act like i deserve gratitude.

I'm sorry, mik, but I have to disagree with you on that one.  Your Mjolnir is reasonably close to the original if you consider the size of the RBC itself.  If the original were the size of a cruiser, the rework would be too far off to call an upgrade, but given the size of the model, whats added can be called subtle details.  Whats more, the additional weapons mounts are mentioned in briefings and techrooms.

This Deimos rework is blatantly adding non-present weaponry, shielding, and reworking the engines in a very unsubtle manner.  Thus, the rework of the Deimos is in far from an upgrade and I have to agree that it falls into the ripoff category.
