i just got fs2, and i was wondering if someone could show me/ help me install mods? my msn is [email protected]

Read around, and it depends on what kind of MOD.

Somebody else give him the beam, I'm no good at it.

Single ships:

put the model file (*.pof) in your data/models directory.

Put the texture files (*.pcx) in your data/maps directory.

You will have to get VPVIEW32 from www.freespace-2.com, and open the...root.fs2, I believe. Extract the ships.tbl to your data/tables directory. Open it up in any text editor, and copy the included table entry right below the Ulysses entry.

Either that, or, if the ship came with pre-done tables, just extract it into data/tables.
