• Already told you people too much!
I need a labtop, nothing big, just it needs to have enough memory for text documents for medical history and the most killer internet as for speed, cost, and stuff.  What kind of labtop specs should I get and what kind of Internet would be best?  :)
Thanks

Look on the Dell website, I like their stuff the best and you can customize it pretty easily to fit your needs...

They make machines large enough to sit on top of labs?
[I am not really here. This post is entirely a figment of your imagination.]

"...The quintessential quality of our age is that of dreams coming true. Just think of it. For centuries we have dreamt of flying; recently we made that come true: we have always hankered for speed; now we have speeds greater than we can stand: we wanted to speak to far parts of the Earth; we can: we wanted to explore the sea bottom; we have: and so  on, and so on: and, too, we wanted the power to smash our enemies utterly; we have it. If we had truly wanted peace, we should have had that as well. But true peace has never been one of the genuine dreams - we have got little further than preaching against war in order to appease our consciences. The truly wishful dreams, the many-minded dreams are now irresistible - they become facts." - 'The Outward Urge' by John Wyndham

"The very essence of tolerance rests on the fact that we have to be intolerant of intolerance. Stretching right back to Kant, through the Frankfurt School and up to today, liberalism means that we can do anything we like as long as we don't hurt others. This means that if we are tolerant of others' intolerance - especially when that intolerance is a call for genocide - then all we are doing is allowing that intolerance to flourish, and allowing the violence that will spring from that intolerance to continue unabated." - Bren Carlill

Probably don't need a fast system...I'd guess the slowest possible would still suit your needs - if you're only running an Os and text editor you shouldn't need too much.

Get a second hand Dell Latitude off ebay. Can't remember offhand which, but there's a nice low-power-consumption one they made a while back. Ought to be okay for what you say.
Then install something like VectorLinux on it - hell, you probably don't even need a GUI for what you want to do, just use VI.

Get a Pentium 4M with 512mb of RAM and a fairly humungous harddrive.

The P4M is clocked slower than the regular P4 but is just as fast.  Kind of like how Athlon's at less than 2ghz can keep up and sometimes surpass much faster P4's.

You should be able to get a Dell with a Radeon 9000 for video.

Alternately, if you want a fairly "future-proof" laptop, there is always Alienware, IIRC all their new laptops have a replaceable video card, which allows the laptop to remain TOTL for much longer.

IMO you shouldn't need a 3d card if you're only editing text documents.  alienware is really a hi-spec games machine,so it costs a mint.
