actaully......make that I've given up on your ships Omni. They are just too damn system intensive for me to FRED or use in proper missions (i just tried attacking nahema bombers with an Akira in the scene, and it crashed).

I've yet to release the lowres textures for the ships and the Galaxy is the only one with LODS. These ships are geared toward the middle to high end systems with at least a 1.2 ghz cpu and at least a Radeon 9500pro or Geforce4 Ti. With the Galaxy, just turn down the detail level in the game's options.

The Akira has no LODs and is a pretty hefty model (12k)

My system is middle of the road imo, and it eats this for breakfast once the game's own loading system gets out the way. No reason to cut quality now.

I've discovered that using the DDS (direct-x) format for textures, cuts loading times by 75 percent. If you try the uber textures for the Sovereign, which uses DDS, you should notice a difference in load time. I haven't had the time to convert the source TGA textures to the DDS format. Its far better than the uncompressed PCX and its 256 color limitation. I'm just not sure how glitchy the support dor DDS is, thats why I settled for PCX.

Yeah man, she loads like a dream (well, relatively) with the high quality textures. If I get the tools I'll convert for ya any of the other textures I downloaded.

Important point tho: the dds textures only work if placed in the maps directory, but not if they're kept in the VP.

I've turned it down as far as it will go. Only was able to play the mission with ~no lighting, no textures, crappy models and what-ever else you can think of.

I'll have to forget the Peregine- i dont think i'll be able to get descent action shots without crashing to desktop. But I do have a few pics of the BoP...

(btw I have a P4 1.6 Ghz system, but my card is SiS.....any idea how to improve performance?? I also have 288MB Ram, but no more than 140 shows free at any one time on FreeRam)

My first advice if I may, is to upgrade memory and video card. 512MB at least and an FX5600 or ati 9600 gfx card.

SIS!? OUCH!!! My condolences. I'm sorry Singh, your graphics card is in the A$$ end of space. Hell, even the Intel chipset destroys it. I had that card once, it barely managed quake3 nevermind today's uber games. Highly recommended to check out ebay or pricewatch.com You can get a pretty descent card for 120 bucks or yen or whatever.

UPDATE: I'll have a texture upgrade on the PEREGRINE and a Beta version Runabout within the hour.

My uncle is giving me approx 140 Singapore $ to go buy a card for him. Thing is, i dont know what constitutes as a decent card for that price range......any suggestions?

I reccomend an ATI Radeon, starting at the 9500pro series and up. You can probably get a good deal on a 9600 in www.pricewatch.com or Ebay.

you know, there's no way around it, this model, especaly in comparasin with the others, sucks

maybe better textures can save it, but even then, the geometry is still realy low poly
