1st problem)  I recently installed a new HP printer on my dad's computer.  anyway, it comes with all this stuff to monitor the printer and crap, but i jumped from an average of 77% of system resources open to a measly 49%, and i'm really noticing the difference.  it's starting loads of the crap every time, and i forgot how to find in the registry the location of the "start at system boot" files.  anyone want to enlighten me?


2nd problem) On my new computer, video and sound is screwing up.  regardless of what program i use, both video and sound are faster than the actual movie/sound clip.  i'm using a Radeon 9200 for video, and the integrated sound card in the motherboard (N force 2, which is supposed to be pretty good).  what could it be?  all drivers have been installed correctly

2nd)Screwing up how? Syncronization? Jitters?

ah yes,but do you know the Regedit keys though?  like, to actually change it directly from regedit?

yeah, like, the sound and stuff that i watch/listen to... the time goes twice as fast.

1) Why, when msconfig works just as well, alternately you could use X-Setup.

2)Is it just with video or does it do it with games also?  Try reinstalling Direct X.

If you're running XP go to the run dialog and type in startup.cpl , you should be able to disable all the HP crap from there.

Video problems sounds like you need to reinstall some codecs. I recommend Ace Mega Codecs Pack. Though I can't remember for the life of me where I got it from.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

though Liberator's right. msconfig will show everything under that key plus boot, win and system .ini's, and services too if you're under 2k/XP.

AFAIK codecs are installed into the windows dir and shared between apps so if one of them's bad it'll be that way under any player on your system.
