I recently downloaded the GTC Eris from this board, but I'm now very confused.

When I examined it in Aurora, the model was off center by about 16(whatever units Aurora uses).  Is there any way to cure this?

I tried a quick-and-dirty solution with the submodel offset to see what it performed like ingame, but this causes odd effects in FRED (the model moved, but the turrets didn't) and has no effect on the actual game at all.  I'm using the latest INF.exe.

Any advice?

Is that one of C914's models? If so the best thing to do is pm him and ask him either to fix it or to give you the model files so that you can.

look at it in MV to make sure it isn't an Aurora bug (I think I fixed em all but I can't be sure)

That reminds me, I need to contact you about Aurora Bob, I'm having problems getting one of my models to load into Aurora, despite the fact it loads into both MV (Vasudan Ad's high poly version) and PCS. It's nearly 10,000 polys, but I didn't think that would matter to Aurora?

yeah it would, Aurora is quite messy, one of the reasons why I don't do much with it anymore,
not that I've completly dropped suport for it though

hmm did i say that was my first model:D
Problem in aurora is with centering point. It isn't in real center of ship...it doesn't disturb in game but in POF editors it make made that problem.

I don't fully understand that post, but I will say that it DOES matter where the center point (as interpreted by model viewing programs) is located within a ship.  Its radius from that point determines warp hole diameter, and more importantly is the point around which the ship will turn.  The colossus and Hatshepsut both are centered near their sterns rather than in the true center of the ships, so that they look like they are actually turning when they change heading (in theory).  It is this gross offcentering, however, that causes the Colossus to behave like a baseball bat when it moves.  Having it off to one side can goof up a lot if it has to move at any point.
