There was a Serious Sam mod, but I don't know what happened to it - shame, cos that would have been the best game to do it in.

Microprose made a SSt game but it was sorta limited. Some developer IS making a new SSt game however, don't know when it will come out but sometime after the second movie is released.

For all you old guys like me, remember the TRS-80 COLOR computer (around 1982-86), I had KLENDATHU cartridge. Thats right I had my 8 bit pixelated guy with a flame thrower runing around the screen as 2 colors of bugs flew past me. Green and RED (queens). you got points for avoided them while toasting them to death... God it was so primitive (like atari 2600)... I cringe to think that sort of thing actually captured my intersest.  :nervous:

But I am much better now HONEST! I never play anything below 16 bit graphics anymore!!!
Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a wide target selection !

well the duke3d one was fun cause it gave me really cool new mapping abilities that I liked and I knew Build.exe in and out(execpt for making sliding "Star Trek" doors  )

I think it would have been interesting to see what the film would have been like had it stuck to the book rather than rewriting it almost entirely, not to say I didn't enjoy the film, it was ****ing great when there was action, but I'm not entirely sure why they even bothered trying to tack a story in there.

With some selective editing you could cut half hour out of that film easily and it'd still rock.

I've not read it, but wasn't the book somewhat Nazi-istic in tone?  Which the movie kind of satirized....

The entire book was one big political advert for......err.....Socialism, was it?

Remember in the movie when they're in the class? Remember hearing Razak saying "...discuss the fall of Democracy..."? Then there's all the stuff about "I need to be a Citizen to go into government / have a baby".

And 'sticking to the book' would've meant going from the initial encounters to the invasion of Earth and required about 20 hours of film.

Basically the way the system works in the book is that only people who serve time in the military are eligible to vote, I don't care about the politics though, some of the ideas for the tech I really like.

The powersuits should have made it into the film though, that would've been awesome.

I didn't want them to stick to the book, to be honest, it's like the Running man book and film, two completely seperate entities (though the running man book is way better than the film)

in case of emergency, administer caffeine to the artist,

who wrote the book exactly? and if i do buy it, does fragmenting reading matter a lot in this case?

Uh.....no.

I had a Starship Troopers board-game from like the 70's or some ****. It was one big ground-battle against the Bugs.

There's variants of them in Roughnecks.

As for the movie, nobody noticed it's a TV show?
From the website:
"I'm proud to announce that  Starship Troopers 2 will premiere on the Action channel (the part of STARZ! Super Pack), 10PM April 24th. It will also play Wednesday 28th, at 10 PM. "
then:
"Once again we -- as the first in the world -- have the pleasure of bringing you the hottest news about Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation. It's official: The street date in the US for the ST2 DVD is June 8th, 2004. The movie has been Rated R by the MPAA."

So obviously, it doesn't have the cash Verhoeven had.
I'll watch it, definitively.
